What's On in 5/6

BUDDY TIME

We absolutely love catching up with our buddies! All Grade 5 and 6 have such a wonderful time getting to chat with each other, create things and play.

Our visit this time around was no different. The Grade 6s helped celebrate the Preps 100 days of school ( or really their 101st day of school 🙂), while the Grade 5s taught their kinder friends how to play ‘What’s The Time Mr Wolf?’. To be honest, we are not sure who enjoyed this game more - the Grade 5 buddies or their kinder friends. 😀

We can’t wait until we meet up again!

WHITEHORSE POTATO OLYMPICS 2024

The Paris 2024 Olympics may be on at the moment, but here in Grade 56 at Whitehorse we had our very own Potato Olympics! What better way to celebrate the Olympics and incorporate some Maths and Literacy.

Below are just some of the reflections from some of our ‘potato olympic athletes’:

I was becoming dizzy by being spun around for the break dancing event. I then was thrown in the air and got a ‘boo boo’ on my head. But it was all worth it when I WON gold for break dancing!!!

The Potato Olympics were amazing! As I stepped into the arena with my helpers, Annabel and Madeleine, I'd never felt more excited. The archery event was fun but my favourite break dancing- it was amazing! I also loved being rolled the ramp for distance ‘running’ and thrown in the air for the ‘hot potato sprint’. Representing my country was scary but I pushed through my nerves and gave it all I got!

I felt nervous when the Olympics began. I heard the crowd cheering and the lights shine on me. I could taste the amazing foods from the stands. I could see all the other competitors ready to go for Gold, Silver and Bronze. My favourite event was ‘distance running’.

As a potato athlete, I got bruised by being dropped and thrown around. I got a sore from being rolled around and got dizzy from spinning too much during break dancing. I am sure my mum and dad back at the potato farm will be proud of me.

Hello, you're reading  the diary of Pat the Potato Athlete. Today I competed in my first ever Olympic Games. There were four events - distance ‘running’, Hot Potato Sprint, Archery and Break Dancing. First up was break dancing. I looked around and saw a big crowd looking down at me. I felt my tummy drop and heard people chanting out my name. I looked at the ground and tried to block out all the noise. All of a sudden I was spinning around and looking at blurred lights. I was getting very dizzy and nearly threw up at the end of it. I held my sin for 7 seconds - not the best but I had a heap of fun!
