Principal's Address

Hello Everyone,

WOW! I cannot believe it is week 5 already. We are at the halfway mark for Term 2, and it sure has been busy. My favourite part of last week was watching the students work together to build a fort out of the soft blocks. They built rooms for each of them and had so much fun doing it. Below is a photo of me sitting in Luella's room.  How lucky are we to be in a small school? This type of play does not occur in larger schools.

We ended week 4 by celebrating the most important women in our lives, our mothers.  The Year 3-6 class organised and set up a beautiful afternoon tea and presentation honouring why our mothers mean so much to us. Thank you to everyone who came.  It was just a wonderful way to end the week.

This week all Principals in the region are required to attend the Principal Regional Development days in Toowoomba. These 2 days will involve addresses and conversations with the Director- General for the Department of Education, Mr Michael De'Ath. The agenda for the 2 days includes- Principal Health and Wellbeing, strategic impact, whole school approach to pedagogy, digital innovation in teaching and learning and a focus on equity and excellence.  I look forward to sharing with you in the next newsletter.

School-Led Review parent and community chat

Next Tuesday 21st May at 2.45pm we will be having an information sharing session on the school review.  This is a great opportunity to discuss the review process, building

school-community partnerships and what you would like to see changed/improved in the future at Moonie State School.  I look forward to seeing as many parents and community members as possible there. There will also be an anonymous survey to give feedback as well. Come along for a coffee and a chat.

Leaders Meeting and Lunch

The next Leaders meeting will be next Tuesday 21st May. The year 6 students do not need to pack lunch on this day as I provide a shared lunch. Next week we are having home made mini pizzas.

Principal Award

Zariah Rotherick received the Principal Award this week for being a kind and caring student who always has a smile on her face. Zariah has requested a hot chocolate with marshmallows for her drink of choice.

Brain Teaser

This is one for the mathematicians out there. This was one of the student brain teasers last week.  Put your answer in the P&C chat to win the chocolate.

How can you add eight 8's to make 1000?

Attendance

Attendance so far this term is 90.2%.

Until next time,

Rebecca
