From the Principal

Week 1 Term 2 2024

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back  to Term 2. I trust everyone had a wonderful Easter and holiday.

This week we returned to school with the horrific news of the stabbings in Sydney.

Such news can affect people in a variety of ways.  Your children might have heard news reports and are asking you questions.

If your child  does ask you about such events and you need help on what to say MACS has proved the following guidance.

We keep all involved in our prayers.

First Eucharist

This weekend and the following weekend children from both the School and Parish will be celebrating their First Eucharist.  This is a very exciting time for the children and their families. We wish them all the best and I ask that you keep them in their prayers and thoughts.

Last night the children participated in a Faith night with their parents.  Fr John and the teachers explained the importance of each section of the mass.

As a conclusion to their preparation for First Eucharist, tomorrow the children in Yr 4 will be involved in a Eucharist Faith day. They children may wear casual clothing.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Nina and Grace who celebrated their First Reconciliation on Tuesday.   A huge thank you to Mrs Boyhan who helped  prepare both students and to Fr Vinh who celebrated the sacrament with Nina and Grace and their families.

PBL  - Positive Behaviours for Learning

You will have noticed the many posters around the school outlining our approach to Positive Behaviours for Learning (PBL). On these  posters are the expectations for all who learn at St Bede's.

At school the teachers explicitly teach these expectations to our students.  So that we have a community approach to PBL. I am going to  ask parents through out the year to help with this reinforcement by talking to your child about these expectations.   The behaviour  that I ask you to discuss with your children is " To Choose Kind" in our words and actions.  Discuss with them about what this means and the impact words and actions can have on others.  Thank you for your support.

Reminders

April 25th and April 26th are a Public holiday and pupil free day.

Running Club

Running club will commence tomorrow at 8.00am at Mrytle Park, weather permitting. It would be great to see as many children there as possible.  Our cross country event is only two weeks away.
