The 2024 UCAT must be sat between 1 July and 9 August 2024. Students intending to apply interstate should carefully study the admission expectations for each university as additional requirements such as predicted ATARS and written statements may be required along with the UCAT. University Updates
Adelaide University's FirstGEN is a free program that offers free support and interactive information sessions to ‘first in family’ Year 12 Students. This is aimed at broadening students’ awareness, understanding and confidence as they approach the next step of their education journey. Students and families interested in the program can check out the details at: https://www.adelaide.edu.au/study/undergraduate/firstgen
Flinders University’s brand new, state of the art city campus has now opened at Festival Plaza right by the Adelaide train station!
This should make Flinders a much more accessible option for our students!
Details on courses that will be offered at the city campus are available here: https://www.flinders.edu.au/festival-plaza
For Year 12 students, selection into university courses is generally based on achieving a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR + adjustment factors) and meeting any prerequisite or other essential admission requirements.
The University of South Australia also offer guaranteed entry based on the three best Year 12 grades. This is conditional on achieving an ATAR of 50 and meeting all other entry requirements. You can find out more information about subject grade entry at: https://study.unisa.edu.au/guaranteed-entry-year-12
Year 12 Transition Breakfast
Next term we will be holding our annual Year 12 Transition Breakfast with universities and old scholars in attendance to share information regarding university entry and other post school options. Our regular Career Expo here at Endeavour College will be held on Tuesday 13 August from 5:30pm-7:00pm, open to all senior students.
Year 10 Work Experience and 2025 VET Programs
We are pleased with the number of students who have submitted their compulsory Work Experience Agreement Form in readiness for their placements in Week 10 this Term (1-5 July). Our expectation is that all forms for Work Experience will be returned to PLP teachers by Friday, 10 May. Students who have not met this deadline should discuss this with their PLP teacher or contact Mrs Fitridge for further clarification and support. Students who will be using casual work, part-time work or volunteer work should also discuss this with their teacher.
We strongly encourage Year 10 and 11 students interested in undertaking VET in schools’ programs in 2025 to discuss this with Mrs Fitridge this term to ensure they meet the eligibility for funded programs.
These eligibility requirements include VET readiness activities comprising:
· Relevant work experience or paid work OR
· Completion of a relevant short course or micro credentials (such as White Card Training for trade careers or industry immersion sessions run by training organisations or workplaces)
· Completion of a VET readiness literacy and numeracy review
The VET Pathways application process for 2025 courses will be discussed with the Year 10 students at our Creating Careers Day on June 27 and further information will be provided to families early in Term 3 in time for our Subject Information Evening on August 13.
Year 10 Creating Careers Day
We are excited to be holding our Creating Careers Day with the Year 10 students on Thursday, 27 June here at the College. We have invited Universities, along with other experts to the College to share the possibilities for further training and careers with the students.
The timing of this new event is carefully considered as we move into Term 3 and commence the Subject Selection Process with families.
Further details of this exciting event will be published later this term.
One intention of event is to share firsthand career journeys with our students. We are keen to hear from members of our community with interesting and unique career experiences who would be willing to be part of a career panel on the day. We would need you at the College from 9.00am -10.30am on the day and would love you to stay a little longer for morning tea and more casual interaction with students if this suits you.
We are keen to hear from old scholars and other community members involved in health and medical careers, business and law, engineering, ICT, and media. If this sounds like something, you would be interested in helping us with, I would love to hear from you.
I am happy to answer any further question you may have either by contacting me by phone or email at the College.
