Reminders:
Mathseeds
We are so impressed with the number of families completing one lesson of Mathseeds a week! There has been huge improvements in the consistency that these lessons are being completed. Well done for introducing strong homework routines at home.
Reminders:
Excursions and In-visits
On Compass all parents have access to all the school events taking place this year. We would encourage parents to save time and consent to all events. This ensures your child will not miss out on any of the fun activities we have planned for the remainder of the year.
Start Time
We would like to strongly encourage all parents to ensure their child comes to school at 8:45am. This precious 15 minutes before we get into our first lesson of the day is vital in setting your child up for a successful day. During this time students have an opportunity to do morning work, chat with their teachers and settle in for the day ahead. Thank you for your support in this matter.
iPad
iPads play a critical role in your child’s learning at South Melbourne Primary School. Please support your child to bring their fully charged iPad to school each day. We do not want any child missing out on the engaging and education activities planned due to forgetting their iPad or the battery running out. We do not have the capacity to charge iPads at school. Ensuring iPads come to school charged is a shared responsibility between the student and parents.
Reminders:
Homework
Thank you for your continued support in instilling a strong homework routine for your child. The expectation is 1 lesson of Mathseeds completed a week (Sunday - Saturday). Please remember that Sunday starts the new week.
The other homework expectation is reading 4 nights for 15 minutes. This is to be written in your child's diary and signed. Diaries should come to school every day.
Devices
Our Year 2 students really enjoy engaging with our programs (Maths Invaders and Reading Eggspress just to name a few). When their iPad becomes flat in the middle of the learning day, this can restrict their engagement. Thank you for your continued support in creating a home routine which involves charging the iPad with your child.

Upcoming Assembly Performance
On Friday 14th June, Year 3 students will be sharing their knowledge of animals by performing a song at our Whole School Assembly. If your child is in Year 3 and you are available to attend at 2:45pm, we would welcome you to come along and see them perform.
Arrival at School
Students are encouraged to arrive at school at 8:45 to have time to put away their bag, set up their desk and read before lessons begin at 9:00. Between 8:45 and 9:00 is a great time for students to read and demonstrate their comprehension of their books by taking an AR quiz. This supports students to reach their AR learning goals.

Excursions and In-visits
We have many exciting excursions and in-visits approaching. Please ensure you have given consent on Compass for your child to attend.
RSPCA Excursion
The Grade 4s are looking forward to their first excursion of the year to the RSPCA in the final week of term. Please ensure your child does not have a lunch order on the day of their excursion.

Reminders:
School Arrival
We have noticed in an increase in students arriving late to the learning level in the mornings. This means that they miss out on time to complete AR quizzes and get set up for their day ahead. Please ensure your child is getting school at a time where they have enough time to reach Level 4 before the bell at 9am.

Homework
Just a friendly reminder to ensure that homework diaries are signed and to engage in conversations about AR targets and reading progress. Your support in this matter is greatly appreciated!
