Bonjour
Welcome to Term 2. I hope that you have all enjoyed a wonderful holiday and made the most of some time to recoup and savoured not filling lunch boxes! I certainly made the most of the fine weather to tend to my garden and prepare for some exciting renovations to my home as well as spending some precious time with my family.
Our Parents and Friends Committee are meeting on Monday, 29 April 2024 at 6:00 pm at the Leongatha RSL. I would like to extend an invitation to join this meeting on behalf of Michelle Boyd, Rebecca Carmody and the rest of the Committee. They are a fun bunch and would love to hear your ideas on fundraising and other initiatives to support our school. If you can't attend but would still like to contribute to the Committee, please contact the school office and we can put you in touch with this fabulous team.
This week we farewelled Koby Dennison, who has headed off on maternity leave. We can't wait to hear some good news soon and wish both Koby and Adrian all the very best as they begin their parenting journey.
I am also delighted to let you know that our Speech Therapist, Yvette Tew, has recently given birth to a beautiful baby girl. Yvette reports that "Mahalia Lee was born at home (planned homebirth) on 14 February 2024, just after the storm while we had no phone reception and no power. It was a pretty wild start to labour as I was at home with Ari (our son) and was trying to contact my husband and the rest of the birth team! The birth was wonderful (once everyone finally arrived) and Mahalia and I are both healthy and well. Mahalia weighed 3.1kg and was 51cm long at birth." I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Tew family on behalf of the St Laurence O'Toole Primary School community.
On a sadder note, and in light of the horrific incidents we have been seeing across our country, I have included a couple of links to support services that may be of benefit to you, your family or anyone you know experiencing trouble processing and talking about these disturbing acts, on our Community News page. Please make contact with these reputable and knowledgeable services or reach out to us here at school at any time - we all need to support each other more than ever.
Now that winter sports are back, I hope everyone enjoys their netball and football games. Travel well and all the best.
Bon weekend
Liz
