Tennis

Last week saw our students begin their first tennis coaching session. We use our wonderful stadium for this clinic. Our students really enjoyed this active session and are looking forward to each Friday when we have our 60 minute session.

We are so fortunate that our coach "Milo" has left some tennis equipment for our students to use between sessions.

P-2 News from Miss Duffy

In Numeracy we have been looking at place value and how to round numbers to the nearest 10. We have been talking about which numbers round up and which round down. We learned about and practiced the "Balloon Method" for rounding- where we pretend to hold a helium balloon in one hand, we then release a finger as we count the "ones" of the number being rounded- if we do not have any fingers left to release then our balloon would float up and therefore the number rounds up. Constructing the posters (below) helped to consolidate the students' understanding and rounding skills.

We welcome Levi to our classroom. Levi is a prep student and we are very excited to have him join our class: another frog in our frog pond! Levi has spend the past week settling in and learning how awesome we all are at Raywood Primary School. Welcome to Levi's parents Paige and Nathan as well.

Year 3-6 News from Mr Collins

When being silly is educational...

With a focus on strong verbs, the kids were asked to find 5 strong verbs in the books during a morning reading session. They were then asked to use these verbs in a sentence involving at least one of the other kids in the room, who  would then act out that sentence. The favourite amongst the kids was "Kiara cantered into the room with her red beard swinging and swaying".

Art News from Miss Duffy

The students completed their ANZAC inspired art and were very proud to have their "candlelit" jars on display at our school ceremony last week. The students also created a sunrise/sunset silhouette picture.  We are now moving onto Mother's Day craft, but of course that is a secret.......

MARC News from Mrs Gentry

To celebrate National Jelly Bean Day we will be sharing two beautiful jelly bean books. Students will be completing jelly bean maths, imagining what they would do if they had a magnificent jelly bean tree, making jelly bean crowns and guessing how many jelly beans there are in a jar! (We might also need to taste test some of these jelly beans 😊)
