ANZAC Ceremony

Last Wednesday we held our Student-Led ANZAC Ceremony at school. Our two wonderful Year Six Leaders facilitated this ceremony at the front of our school. Our students showed the appropriate amount of respect and reverence during this commemoration.

Staff, students and visitors then enjoyed a morning tea of home-baked ANZAC biscuits and a glass of milk (because we all know that ANZAC biscuits dipped in milk are the best).

Policy Update

We have recently reviewed and updated our Photography, Filming & Recording of Students Policy. You can find this policy (along with all of our policies) on our school website at raywoodps.vic.edu.au     Just look under the Plans and Policies Tab at the top of the page. A reminder that if you have any questions or concerns about this policy or any of our policies to please contact the school.

Pie Drive

We are officially declaring this event a SUCCESS! We have been blown away by the support from the wider community as we have had people from far and wide order pies in support of our school. Bree will be in contact with those that have ordered to let you know when the goodies are available to be picked up. This is scheduled to be Thursday May 2nd, but we will need to confirm a time.

Cross Country

Could all families please log into uEducateUs and complete the permission slip for this event? Due to not having any notification with regard families being able to assist with transport to and from the event we have booked a bus. We will spread the cost across all families (even if you are taking your child but did not let us know). We ask that all students come to school on the morning of the event as normal and travel with us on the bus to the event (as a team). If parents or familiy members do turn up to watch they are welcome to take their child home at the conclusion of the event or they can return to school with us as normal. The start time for the event is 12pm- with the younger students running first. The regular classroom program will run in the morning, so we do expect all students to attend school on this day.

Walk To School

Walk Safely To School Day is on Friday May 10th. As we did last year, the bus will cease the morning run at the Speke St stop opposite the Blake's. We will all meet there around 8.30am and walk together (safely) to school. Anyone who feels like a short stroll is most welcome to join us. Students can then arrive at school and participate in Breakfast Club  -  sausages in bread and juice are on the menu that day. If any student is not on the bus or not able to meet us at this time, please be aware that parent's will not be able to drop off at school before 8.50am on this day as there will be no one on site for supervision until we all arrive on-foot!

Mother's Day Stall

Friday May the 10th is our annual Mother's Day Stall, ran by our student leaders. Students are able to purchase gifts for their mum on this day. Please be aware that we have set the spend limit to $5 per student to ensure that things are equitable across the board.

Curriculum Day

Our Term 2 Curriculum Day will be on Monday May 20th (as stated in the previous newsletters). Students do not attend school on this day. Staff will be working on aligning our Literacy and Numeracy assessments to best practices and research.

School Council

A reminder that our May meeting is on Monday night at 5pm. Packs were sent home this week with students. Please ensure you have read through the information sent home in these packs so that we can have a fast and efficient meeting.
