Meet Our Staff
Our staff at Birranga College are the very heart of everything we do at the college. From teaching and learning to wellbeing and admin support services, every member of our team contributes to creating a safe, welcoming and engaging environment for our students and community.
Georgia Smith
Georgia Smith has joined our Intervention team at Birranga College. Georgia loves working with our students, particularly seeing their confidence grow and watching them become the best versions of themselves. She is passionate about helping students build confidence in their numeracy skills and was inspired to work in education because she wanted a career where she could support others. Outside of school, Georgia enjoys being creative, especially painting, follows North Melbourne, and has skydiving on her bucket list!
Linette Sebastion
Linette is our newest Learning Support Officer. Linette loves the kindness and support our students show each other and enjoys creating a welcoming and supportive environment where young people can thrive. Inspired by two of her own high-school teachers, Linette hopes to make the same positive difference for our students. Outside of school, she enjoys reading, especially books by Khaled Hosseini, and loves watching the Matildas. Her bucket-list goal is to volunteer teach overseas.
Nandana Shaan
Meet Nandana who is part of our Literacy Intervention and Education Support team. Nandana loves making learning fun and creating a welcoming environment where every student feels a sense of belonging. Her goal is to help students grow in confidence, believe in themselves and feel excited about learning. Outside of school, Nandana enjoys painting and hopes to get back into reading. She has a dog named Mickey who she adores!
Ben Mitchell
Mr Mitchell has joined our Health & Physical Education team this term. He enjoys getting to know our students and staff and loves that every day in education is different. He is passionate about helping young people develop a lifelong appreciation for health and movement. Outside of school, Mr Mitchell enjoys football, running and reading, and follows the Collingwood FC. Fun fact: he has a deaf blue heeler named Bob! His bucket-list goal is to take a sports viewing trip to the USA.
Jared Roscioli
Mr Roscioli is our Music, Drama and Art teachers at Birranga College, with Media also among his teaching methods. Mr Roscioli loves building authentic relationships with students and creating a supportive environment where everyone feels safe to express themselves, enjoy learning and achieve success. His goal this year is to contribute to as many learning and extracurricular opportunities as possible, with a dream of one day running a school production. Outside of school, he enjoys singing, playing guitar, songwriting and basketball.
Sushma Kashyap
Sushma works in Finance Support alongside the Administration team. Sushma enjoys being part of the school community and supporting staff, students and families with the day-to-day financial operations of the College. She takes pride in being organised, reliable and approachable, and her goal this year is to continue building her knowledge and strengthening her skills in finance support. Outside of work, Sushma loves spending time with family and friends and travelling.
Tiara Rongonui
Tiara joins our Front Office Admin team. Tiara loves meeting our amazing students, getting to know their quirky personalities and being part of a positive school community. Outside of school, Tiara enjoys spending time with her young family, travelling, kapa haka and embracing all aspects of Te Ao Māori. She is a passionate Melbourne Storm and NZ Warriors supporter, and her bucket-list dream is to spend Christmas in New York City — Home Alone 2 style!
