Science

Take a dive into a world of living organisms as we classify them based on observable characteristics into their animal kingdoms. Our biology unit explores systems of classification. Students consolidated and extended their understanding of different groups with a firsthand look at preserved specimens. These included vertebrates such as mammals, reptiles, fish and invertebrates such as insects, arachnids and crustaceans.

STEM

In Term 3, our Year 7 students took on a real engineering challenge — designing and building marble runs using only recycled and low-cost materials. Working in pairs, students planned, sketched, problem-solved, and constructed a functional marble run that had to include ramps, funnels, tunnels, and a catchment area. Along the way they developed skills in design thinking, teamwork, and creative problem-solving — all grounded in the Victorian Curriculum's Design and Technologies. The unit wrapped up with a showcase where students presented their finished marble runs and explained the engineering decisions behind them. We were incredibly impressed by the creativity and persistence our students showed throughout this unit.
