Dear students, families and staff of Cheltenham Primary School,
Yesterday we celebrated Mother’s Day, honouring the wonderful mothers, mother-figures, and caregivers who support and nurture our students. We are truly grateful for all you do every day.
We also acknowledge that this day can be bittersweet for those whose mothers or special carers are no longer with us, or for families navigating complex circumstances. Our thoughts are with you.
To everyone who has a mothering role in our community - thank you. Your care makes a difference every day.
Lord Somers Camp

Our Year 5/6 students have returned from Lord Somers Camp, bringing back new friendships, great memories and a strong sense of achievement. They embraced challenges, stepped outside their comfort zones and showed resilience, teamwork and growing independence. It was wonderful to see our senior students support one another and confidently manage the routines and responsibilities of an extended camp experience.

Thank you to our dedicated staff: Bernard Hickey (Camp Coordinator), Tanya Wells, Matt Littlechild, Sam Van Zyl, Shaun Penny and Denise R. and parent volunteers: Steve, Stuart, Deniz, Tser Lin, Bev and Vaness for your time, energy and support. Camps like this are only possible through the commitment of our school community. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful to everyone who helped make this experience so rewarding.

Kitchen Classroom

This afternoon I had the pleasure of joining Group 2 in 6A in the Kitchen Classroom as they worked together to cook Okonomiyaki under the confident captainship of Louis G. The team followed the recipe beautifully, producing a delicious dish enjoyed with Japanese mayonnaise, barbecue sauces, dried shallots, and seaweed. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them. One student had previously travelled to Japan and another is excited to be heading there soon, so we shared wonderful stories and connections. It is remarkable how food can bring cultures together and spark such rich conversation. Please read about the Kitchen in today's newsletter and watch out for all the recipes, which will be added to future issues as attachments for download.
Specialist Overviews for Term 2
To support families to understand the curriculum and events across the school we provide termly Curriculum overviews. Today's newsletter has all the specialist learning overviews. Please enjoy reviewing these.
2027 Foundation enrolment
All current families with a sibling ready to start Foundation in 2027 are invited to collect an enrolment pack or complete the enrolment form which can be downloaded from our website.
Once the form is completed, please hand it in to the office as soon as possible, to ensure that we hold a place for your child.
Tomorrow we have a Foundation Open Morning for prospective families to view a Literacy lesson in Foundation for 20 minutes and see some of our specialist programs in operation. Joining me on tour will be Mrs Savage, Mr Neal, our School Captains: Nathan and Talei and two of our Senior Leaders: Louis G. and Luke M.
Kind Regards,
Bronwyn
