Gospel reflection
John 17:11-19
In this week’s Gospel of John, we hear Jesus praying for his disciples, asking God to protect them, guide them and keep them united in love and truth. As an educator, this Gospel reminds me that St Mary's is about far more than academics. Every day, we strive to create a school where children feel safe, valued and connected. Young people need encouragement, belonging and hope as they grow into the people God calls them to be.
Jesus prays, “May they be one.” In our school community, this means walking together with kindness, respect and compassion, especially during challenging times. It is through this sense of community that children learn the importance of caring for others and living with integrity.
This Gospel also reminds us of the importance of prayer. As a school community, we continue to pray for our students and families, (especially during this time of the announcement of St Mary's closure), when some may feel uncomfortable, that they may know God’s love, feel supported by those around them and grow into people who bring goodness and light to the world.
Special Prayer Service for St Mary's
