Kitchen Garden

On Monday 25th of May, students in 5/6M were the first 5/6 class to enjoy a wonderful cooking session inspired by our corn and bean harvest. Using treasured family recipes to connect, share stories, and inspire one another, students explored the rich traditions behind homemade meals from different cultures.
Together, we prepared delicious Colombian arepas and a hearty vegetarian chilli con carne. The kitchen was filled with excitement, teamwork, and the comforting aromas of fresh ingredients and warming spices. The chilli con carne was especially enjoyed for its full flavour and hearty depth, while the arepas gave students a chance to experience a traditional recipe with cultural significance.
This hands-on experience celebrated not only our harvest, but also the power of food to bring people together, strengthen community, and honour family traditions. Thank you to Jesiah from 5/6B, for sharing this recipe and tips on how to cook the arepas with us.
