A Warm Alphington Welcome
I hope the second week of the school year has been as positive for your families as it has been for me. I consider myself very fortunate to have found myself at Alphington Primary; I’ve absolutely loved the vibe of the place over my first couple of weeks. It is rare to find a school that feels both highly professional and genuinely warm from the moment you walk through the gates.
I have been incredibly impressed by how hard the staff worked to set up their learning spaces and the extensive preparation they put in behind the scenes. It was great to see their enthusiasm in the build up to the start of the year, and that groundwork has clearly paid off, allowing our students to truly hit the ground running.
I’ve also really enjoyed being a part of various planning and leadership meetings, getting up to speed with the great work happening across all levels at APS. A special thanks must go to Shane, Lauren, and Liliana for their patience and for answering my seemingly never-ending stream of questions as I learn the ropes!
Connecting with the Community
We are currently in the midst of our Introductory Meetings, and I hope these have provided everyone with a great opportunity to connect with their 2026 teachers. These "Getting to Know You" sessions are a vital part of building the partnership between home and school, ensuring we are all on the same page as we support your child’s growth this year.
On a personal note, I am still working on names, so please forgive me (and don’t be offended!) if I reintroduce myself a few times at the gate or in the corridors. It has been wonderful meeting so many of you during the first few drop-offs and pick-ups!
Quick Reminder
Monday, 9th of February is Whole School Photo Day. Time to start practicing those smiles and perfecting hairdos though it is worth noting that there is no need for makeup! Also, a quick reminder that on Photo Day it would be great to see students in their full school uniform or school colours.
That’s all from me, hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week!
