Year 9 Peer Support Training – Building Leaders for Our School Community
Last week, our Year 9 students took part in a dynamic Peer Support Training Day, designed to prepare them for their leadership roles in supporting our incoming Year 7s in 2025. The program focused on developing confidence, communication skills, teamwork and empathy — the key foundations of effective peer leadership.
We were fortunate to partner with La Trobe University Leaders, who brought energy, expertise and real-world leadership experience to the day. Their workshops guided students through practical activities such as active listening, problem-solving, positive role-modelling and strategies for creating safe, inclusive spaces for younger students.
Students worked in small groups to explore:
The day ended with students reflecting on the type of leader they want to be, writing each other ‘warm fuzzies’ and how they can have a positive impact on our school culture.
Our Year 9 cohort who completed the training showed maturity, enthusiasm and a strong commitment to helping others. We look forward to seeing them shine as Peer Support Leaders next year for our Year 7 Students.

Year 8 Bounce Excursion – Term 4 Fun, Fitness and Teamwork!
During Term 4, many of our Year 8 students enjoyed an action-packed excursion to Bounce, celebrating the end of the school year with movement, challenge and plenty of laughter. The day offered a chance for students to connect outside the classroom, build resilience and push themselves physically in a supportive environment.
From free-jump areas to obstacle courses and dodgeball courts, students embraced every activity with enthusiasm. Teachers were impressed by the teamwork, encouragement and positive attitudes on display as students set personal goals, tried new skills and cheered each other on.
The excursion also tied into our Health and Physical Education focus on physical activity, wellbeing and healthy risk-taking - showing students the importance of movement for both physical and mental health.
It was a fantastic way to wrap up the year, and our Year 8s represented the school with pride and energy. A big thank you to staff for their supervision and to Bounce for hosting an unforgettable day!
