From our 1/2 Classrooms

We have had a very positive start to the year and have been busy establishing strong routines and clear expectations in our classroom. Predictable routines will help students feel safe, confident and ready to learn each day. It has been wonderful to see how quickly students are settling into classroom life and becoming familiar with our daily structure.

Our students are doing a fantastic job remembering and following expectations. Whether they are participating in Direct Instruction lessons or enjoying their playtime during breaks, they are showing responsibility and making positive choices. We are especially proud of the way students are demonstrating our school values by showing respect, kindness and care towards one another. These behaviours help create a calm, supportive and inclusive classroom where everyone can learn.

In Mathematics, we have been revising our understanding of place value to strengthen students’ number knowledge and build their confidence. Students have been practising how to read, write, order, and recognise numbers, while developing a deeper understanding of how numbers are made. This important knowledge will help support their success as we continue to build their mathematical skills throughout the year.

During our Literacy and Content sessions, students have been building their knowledge through the use of targeted, themed books that connect directly to their learning. Reading these texts together will help expand students’ vocabulary, improve comprehension, and support their speaking and listening skills. We regularly pause to ask questions, share ideas, and model our thinking so students can deepen their understanding and learn from one another.

It has been very pleasing to see the enthusiasm students are bringing to their learning. They are showing a willingness to try new things, challenge themselves and take pride in their work. As their confidence continues to grow, so too will their independence as learners.

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Working together helps create the best possible learning experience for your child. We look forward to a term filled with growth, success and many positive learning opportunities for every student.
