Learning About Learning:

New OECD research confirms what the Ready4Learning Charitable Trust has been championing for years.
Children’s success isn’t built on academics alone. The foundations for lifelong learning, well-being, and success are laid in the early years through a rich combination of interconnected skills and experiences.
The OECD’s 2025 International Early Learning and Child Well-being Study highlights the importance of:
* Oral language and rich conversations
* Phonological awareness and early literacy foundations
* Physical development, movement, and motor skills
* Social and emotional competencies
* Executive function and self-regulation
* Secure relationships and meaningful interactions
* Parents as children’s first and most important teachers
The report reminds us that development doesn’t happen in silos. These foundational capabilities work together to shape children’s future learning, relationships, health, and life opportunities.
We believe that preparing children for school and life isn’t about pushing formal academics earlier. It’s about intentionally nurturing the foundations that allow children to flourish.
When children experience rich language, opportunities to move and play, caring relationships, and adults who understand how development unfolds, we are not simply preparing them for school; we are helping build strong foundations for life.
Because every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and every parent deserves to know just how powerful their everyday interactions can be.
