School Counselling Service
At Pittwater House, we have a dedicated team of School Counsellors that offer consulting and counselling services to students enrolled from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12. The role of the School Counsellor is to assist students to develop appropriate skills and help address academic, social, emotional and/or behavioural concerns which are having an ongoing impact on their engagement at school. School Counsellors work closely with teaching, support, and pastoral staff. It is important to note that services are provided within a school setting, which means that sessions occur during class time and contact with school staff is an essential part of the service. School counselling services are provided on a short-term basis only. Should longer-term counselling, specialised intervention, or an assessment be necessary, referral options will be provided.
There are three School Counsellors that work at Pittwater House, who have extensive experience working with children and young people. The School Counsellors are:
- Kiera Henry, Counsellor, available Monday, Tuesday and Friday
- Rebecca Jaggard, Psychologist, available Wednesday and Thursday
- Megan Williams, Psychologist, available Monday to Friday
Referrals to the School Counselling Service can be made through your child’s teacher (in Junior School), Year/Stage Coordinator (in Senior School), or your child’s Head of School. Students in Senior School are also able to self-refer via their respective Year/Stage Co-ordinator.
Health Centre
The Health Centre at Pittwater House is staffed by two Registered Nurses. It is located in MG17 on the lower level of the Junior School block. The Registered Nurses are:
- Ingrid Scouller, available Monday and Tuesday
- Nikki Kuga, available Wednesday to Friday
The Health Centre is open from 8:30am to 3:30pm as a service for students who have an episode of illness or injury while on campus. Students who become unwell or injured at school are directed to the Health Centre where they are assessed and receive appropriate treatment. If your child contacts you during the school day stating they feel unwell, we request that you direct them to the Health Centre so they can be assessed. Should the student require further treatment which cannot be provided by Health Centre staff, parents/carers will be contacted.
Before your child commences at Pittwater House, parents/carers are required to complete mandatory health and medical information which is found in the Parent App under Medical Details. Should your child be assessed as having a new medical condition once enrolled (including medication, injury, dietary, allergy etc.), information should be updated in the Parent App as soon as possible to ensure the school has current information regarding your child’s health needs.
