Principal's Message

Welcome to our end of year bulletin
I have spent some time reflecting on this year and again am extremely proud of our achievements and accomplishments. One of our greatest outcomes this year has been the growth in student data. This was not only in our improved NAPLAN results, but also in the student feedback on their Attitudes to School Survey. This is evidence of our long-term commitment to learning, and best practice in teaching. We are committed to maintaining and improving these outcomes in 2026 as we embark on the introduction of Phonics from Foundation to Year 2 and develop a strengthened Vocabulary and Grammar focus in Years 3 to 6.
I would like to acknowledge all our staff, students and community for their support and enthusiasm this year. Without our talented staff, none of our achievements would be possible. I acknowledge and thank each person for their hard work and commitment to our school. As we almost conclude 2025, we have a few staff taking 12 months leave, moving to new schools or simply enjoying a new career pathway. Personally, I will be accessing my long service leave a little differently and will be taking Monday and Tuesday as leave for 2026. I am excited to announce that Mel Lloyd was successful in gaining the 0.4 position as Acting Principal on Monday and Tuesday. We make a great team, and this is a wonderful opportunity for Mel to lead while I enjoy a slightly slower pace next year. We wish the following staff all the best for 2026

As we farewell staff, we also welcome the return of Greg Patterson from his 12 months leave in 2025, and new staff to MPHPS, Mrs Kate Clarke to Year 4, Tracey Jones as our new Chaplain and Mrs Ida Stella to our Admin team.
Finally, I have attached a copy of our 2026 staffing below. With a decrease in enrolment due to our school zone and available families living in the area, the numbers of classes in each year level are reducing. As larger numbers of Year 6 students leave, we have less students joining us in Foundation. This is noticeable in Mill Park, and many schools have seen families move further north to newer housing estates. We look forward to working with all of you who have chosen MPHPS as your preferred school for 2026 and we sincerely welcome our new families. We will continue to provide exemplary learning and wellbeing opportunities for all members of our MPHPS community.
On behalf of myself and our Leadership Team, Mel Lloyd, Kate Stimpson and Nat Kennan, we wish you a safe and happy break and we hope you enjoy it in the way that suits you. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 28th January for the Meet & Greet (don’t forget to book online) and on Thursday 29th January for the official start to the year. Stay safe, look after each other and take this time to reflect and relax.
Cheers
Chris
