Acting Principal Update

As we step into 2026 together, I want to say how genuinely excited and grateful I am to be able to begin this year with the Menzies Creek community. A new year always brings new goals and opportunities and I’m confident that together, we will continue to make our beautiful school a place where our students feel supported, challenged, and proud to belong. I’m looking forward to a year filled with growth, connection, and many moments worth celebrating!

Relocation

Yesterday’s relocation to Upwey Primary School went very smoothly thanks to the preparation and hard work from Kate, the teachers and our amazing education support staff. I would like to thank our staff and families for ensuring a seamless transition for the day and hope the students who came enjoyed their adventure!

Thank-you! 🙏

Over the past 7 weeks, our chickens were fortunate to spend their holidays with the Erskine family! We would like to thank them for taking such great care, once again, of our little feathered friends.

Communication

Our main form of communication is Compass, so we encourage you to check it regularly for updates and important information. If you experience any difficulty accessing Compass, please don’t hesitate to contact the office as we are always happy to help.

School Sausage Sizzle and Information Night

After school today, we look forward to welcoming our families for a relaxed sausage sizzle and a chance to socialise and connect with one another. Sausages will be served from 4:30 pm, followed by a brief information session sharing some of the exciting plans and key happenings around the school for 2026.

Getting to Know You Interviews

Compass will be accepting bookings this evening for our interviews held on Thursday, 19th February. This time will provide a great opportunity to touch base and inform your child’s teacher of everything they need to know to make 2026 a successful year. These won’t be a report on student progress, just a chance for you to share.

Absences

It would be appreciated if you could log in to Compass if your child is going to be absent.  If a student is unaccounted for you will be contacted via SMS at 10am.  Students arriving after 9am need to come to the office for a late slip to hand to their teacher.

Student Supervision

The playground is supervised from 8.45am and students should not be at school before this time unless prearranged by a teacher due to a school event. Each day, teachers will be in their classroom at 8.50am ready for the students. Families should note that lessons will begin at 9am sharp.

Community Book Exchange

As you enter the classroom building, you may have noticed our new Community Book Exchange. We warmly invite you to come in and browse the current selection - there may be a book that catches your eye! You are also welcome to contribute by sharing your preloved books and adding to the collection. We hope this exchange becomes a well-loved part of our school community, bringing people together through a shared love of reading.

Breakfast Club

We are super excited to be launching our Breakfast Club next week, with a fabulous menu that is sure to get our students off to a great start each day and set them up for learning and success. Toast and cereal are on offer each day, with a hot breakfast each Monday (scrambled eggs), Wednesday (baked beans) and Friday (pancakes)! Doors to the BER will open and breakfast will be served at 8:45am, with all meals to be finished by 9:00am as food is unable to be taken into classrooms. We appreciate your flexibility and support as we navigate the logistics within the first few weeks.

Captains

We are delighted to congratulate our 2026 student leaders! After delivering their thoughtful speeches at the end of last year, the following students will proudly serve as our captains this year:

School Captains:                         Maya, Jasmine, and Thomas

Student Voice Captain:              Lincoln

Sports Captain:                            Oscar

Library Captain:                            Zoe

We would also like to congratulate our nominated Student Voice representatives for each year level, who will participate in class meetings and provide the crucial link between the students and school, advocating for student needs and perspectives to influence decision-making. The purpose of developing our Student Voice Teams is to enhance the educational experience by fostering collaboration, promoting student engagement, and initiating improvements in school life. On their first agenda – Lunchtime Clubs for 2026!

- We are looking forward to the students discussing and choosing suitable plants to be planted in our new garden beds outside the BER.

- The main administrative building is expected to be completed by around week 6 or 7, ready for us to move back and settle in for the end of the term.

- The final touches are being completed on the multipurpose room, with the back stairs being installed soon, along with new stairs leading to the students toilets from the BER.

- Our Plot to Pot rooms are in the middle of a renovation with new flooring being installed.
