Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Parents,

We have had another wonderful week of learning in the Damascus community. The children are coming every day ready to learn and showing how prepared they are for their learning. They have been demonstrating our schoolwide expectations of Safety, Respect and Learning. 

Next Week’s Learning: 

Religious Education focus: We are beginning our work on understanding the Jubilee year in the Catholic Church and what a pilgrim and pilgrimage is.

Structured Literacy focus: Students will learn to read and spell words using the ‘fszl’ rule (when to double these letters). The story, ‘Under the Southern Cross’ will be read and students will unpack key vocabulary within the text. For writing, students will undertake activities relating to the read story and will review the conjunction ‘and’.

Mathematics focus: We will be continuing our work on place value - reading, writing, ordering and making two and three digit numbers.

Social/Emotional Learning & RRRR: This term we will be learning about our Emotional Literacy. 

Reminders:

Please could you help your child to bring a photo of a celebration to share in our Integrated lessons next week? If you are unable to print a photo to share please email it to your child classroom teacher and it can be printed for you.

On Thursday 20th we have our Open Afternoon. Damascus teachers will be presenting to families at 5:15-5:35 and 6:15-6:35. Both sessions will provide the same information, so you only need to attend one. 

On Wednesday March 26th we will have our community Mass at 9:30am, all families are invited to attend.
