Year Six - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families, 

As our students have settled into the swing of things and become familiar with their new classmates and staff, they have continued to uphold their high standards of behaviour by modelling our schoolwide expectations of Safety, Respect and Learning. 

We look forward to seeing parents next week at our Open Afternoon on Thursday 20th February. This is an opportunity to gain an insight into what your children are learning this year, what events we have to look forward to, and various other ins-and-outs of the Bethlehem community in 2025.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus

Students will continue to learn about prayer.

English Focus

Reading: We will continue to read our historical fiction novel Rivet Boy, which tells the story of a 12-year-old in Victorian-era Scotland working on the construction of the Forth Bridge.

Writing:   Our focus will be on building complex sentences by combining independent and dependent clauses with subordinate conjunctions, as well as text-level persuasive writing.

Mathematics Focus

Students will continue to learn and hone strategies for using the four operations - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division - to solve equations.

Integrated Studies Focus

We will continue to learn about the founding and development of Australian colonies over the past three centuries.

Social & Emotional Learning Focus

Our focus will be on emotional literacy - recognising emotions and responding to them appropriately.

Auslan Focus

In Auslan, we will begin Unit 1C, focusing on asking questions such as 'where is...?' and 'whose is this?'.

Reminders

All students are required to wear a wide brim hat for recess and lunch time

Students need an art smock for Visual Art
