Year Five - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families, 

This week, our Grade 5 students have continued to demonstrate a strong commitment to our school-wide expectations. During daily review sessions, they have actively engaged with mini whiteboards and turn-and-talk strategies, displaying strong participation and enthusiasm for their learning.

We also had our first school assembly of the year, where we celebrated the achievements of our certificate award winners. Congratulations to all those recognised for consistently modelling safety, respect, and learning.

Next week we are learning about...

Religious Education Focus:

Next week students will begin to learn about and explore the 2025 Jubilee Year: Pilgrims of Hope, with a focus on 'Luce', the official mascot of the Jubilee. 

English Focus

Students will continue reading and responding to our class novel, War Horse by Michael Morpurgo. They will also further explore the structure of narrative texts and write the resolution and conclusion of their own story.

Mathematics Focus

Next week, students will start exploring multiplication, using their knowledge of factors and the distributive property. They will also learn to multiply two-digit numbers using materials and diagrams, and apply the associative property to solve multiplication problems.

Auslan Focus

In Auslan, we will begin Unit 1C, focusing on asking questions such as 'where is...?', 'what's your name?' and 'whose is this?'.

Reminders

• On Thursday 20th we have our Open Afternoon. Bethany teachers will be presenting to families at 4:45-5:05pm and 5:45-6:05pm. Both sessions will provide the same information so you only need to attend one. 

• On Monday 24th February we have our 3-6 Athletics Day at Casey Fields.

• On Wednesday March 26th we will have our community Mass at 9:30am, all families are invited to attend.
