Leadership Communication

Dear Families,

Learning in RE this term

Term 1 has the richness of learning around the seasons of Lent, Catholic Social Teaching (Project Compassion) and Easter. What a great way to start the year in learning about the love of God!

The Pilgrims of Hope theme, set by the Catholic Church for 2025 (Jubilee Year) is also something that weaves beautifully throughout our learning in RE. When we explore the theme of 'Pilgrims of Hope', we essentially uncover the supporting concepts of jubilee, journeying, pilgrimage and renewal.  'Luce', the endearing mascot of the Jubilee year, will be helping us explore these concepts. Lent isn't just a time of the year - Lent is a renewal process, so you see how all these begin to link. And this is what teachers are good at...making links to make the learning more powerful.

See her pictured below - we think the students will get behind Luce!

Many of our students will be preparing for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (see our RE & Parish News page in the newsletter for more details), so this also adds a well connected layer to our learning in RE this term too. When we learn about Reconciliation, we need to ask these sorts of questions...Why do we need to say sorry? How do we feel after we've said sorry to someone? Who do we need to reconcile with? Why does God want to be in reconciliation with us? Why does God want us to be in reconciliation with our 'neighbour'? Who is our neighbour?

Safe Driving in School Grounds: A Reminder to Keep It Slow

Dear Families,

As part of our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors, we would like to remind everyone that the speed limit on school grounds is strictly 10 km/h. This speed is at a walking pace. This speed limit helps create a safer environment for pedestrians, particularly our students, and ensures that vehicles can stop quickly if needed.

Thank you to all our families who are following the expectations. Please continue to follow the directions of staff, who are highly visible, to ensure safety for all onsite.

MacKillop Way Walkers:

Supervision:  8:30-8:45am & 3:15-3:30pm

Just a reminder to all our families who have children who use the MacKillop Way access path, the above times are the ONLY times where there is active supervision and access to and from school.

When the gate is locked (see photo) there is NO ACCESS to school and children will need to be dropped off at the front office of our school.
