Year Three - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Families,

What a way for students to finish the term and year - a special incursion from the Indigenous Cultural Dance, Drama and Music group. Each class had a specific session throughout the day today, and then came together after lunch to show what they had learnt, presenting their performances together. Students enjoyed having this very special experience with their peers and presented their performances with enthusiasm and creativity.

From all the staff in Ephesus Community - Ange McCullagh, Carol Rodrigues, Cass Schalks, Gurbiner Bhagat, Jocelyn Tukuafu and Connie Paola we want to say a big thank you to all our wonderful families for all your support. We wish everyone a very happy Christmas and New Year, and a wonderful holiday break where hopefully it will be a time to rejuvenate and refresh and have some great family times together.

Our Learning Focus for this week, Week 10  . . .

Mathematics:  In Math's students have reviewed particular concepts including subtraction, multiplication, division and time.

English:  In English this week, we completed reading the focus text 'Off We Go Around Australia'. Students also revised sentence types, nouns, adjectives and conjunctions.

Religious Education: In Religion, students participated in celebrating the prayer service for the fourth week of Advent. The fourth week of Advent lights the fourth candle which represents LOVE - the Lord brings the light of love to his people by sending His only Son to Earth for our salvation. Students have also been working on completing activities about the Jesse Tree. The stories and symbols that represent these people were explored by the students.  In the Jesse Tree image below, perhaps your child can explain to you who some of the symbols represent in Jesus' family tree.

Integrated Studies / Music:  Students continued with completing the lessons in the Amplify Music Programme. In these lessons the focus was on how the lyrics in songs are used to tell a story. Students listened to some artists who shared where they got their inspiration and ideas from to create the lyrics. Students also learnt about how different instruments and musical concepts are used to convey and communicate certain moods and feelings.
