We are excited to announce that The Legacy Project, Year 6, created in collaboration with artist Chako Kato, has now been installed near the art room. A special thank you to Ken, Ewan's parent, for assisting with the installation of this beautiful artwork. Please come and see it for yourself!
For their final project, Year 5/6 students were tasked with drawing someone they respect. Each student captured the unique characteristics of their subject so thoughtfully. This project also provided an opportunity to focus on shading techniques, with students incorporating highlights, midtones, and shadows to add depth and dimension to their portraits. We are proud of their hard work and artistic growth!
News from Performing Arts
Last Thursday, we held our End of Year Concert. Despite the very hot weather, we are deeply grateful to all the families who came to watch. Each grade’s performance was a culmination of what they had learned throughout the year.
The Prep students performed "Ai-Ai," fully embracing their roles as monkeys and singing in time with their own rhythm. The Year 1/2 students focused on expressing dynamics that matched the meaning of the song while singing along with percussion instruments. The Year 3/4 students worked diligently, starting from almost no knowledge of the recorder, to mastering “Puff the Magic Dragon.” The Year 5 and 6 students challenged themselves to not only play their respective instruments but also to listen to each other’s sounds and create harmony in their performance.
In addition, performances from Kinder, the Taiko Drum Club, the Dance Club, and the Choir added a lively touch, making the concert even more vibrant and festive.
I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you again for supporting Performing Arts program this year. I hope you have a wonderful holidays and look forward to seeing the students’ continued growth in the coming year.
