Japanese Calligraphy Competition

In 2024, Year 1 to Year 6 students tried Brush Calligraphy and Pencil Calligraphy. Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Victoria (JLTAV) gave the theme “Japanese Food” to the Calligraphy Competition, which was open to all schools in Victoria.
Japanese cuisine offers a wide variety of delicious dishes. Unique and diverse culinary traditions can be found in the different regions across the country, which means that travellers to Japan can enjoy regional specialities as they move across the country.
Students learned techniques of bush strokes, inks and paper, and the topics given to each category.
Year 1 and Year 2 category: 茶 (cha/tea)
Year 3 and Year 4 category: 天丼 (ten-don/tempura donburi – tempura on cooked rice comes in a bowl)
