Sustainability

Mr Angus

ResourceSmart Schools program

This term, our school took an exciting step toward sustainability by conducting a comprehensive water audit as part of the ResourceSmart Schools program. This initiative is part of our journey to earn our third star in the program, demonstrating our commitment to reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices.

Students from across the school actively participated in this project, investigating how we use water on campus. Armed with checklists and plenty of enthusiasm, they checked every tap and water-using device for leaks, evaluated our overall water consumption, and brainstormed creative ideas to use water more efficiently.

The audit uncovered some key opportunities to improve, such as fixing small leaks and considering ways to use water more mindfully in classrooms and outdoor spaces. Some of the students’ innovative ideas included installing water-efficient fixtures, introducing rainwater harvesting systems, and raising awareness about water conservation among the school community.

This hands-on activity not only taught students the value of water but also empowered them to become active participants in making our school more sustainable. We’re proud of their efforts and excited to implement these ideas as we work towards achieving our next ResourceSmart milestone!

Stay tuned for updates on how we’re turning our findings into action. Together, we can make a big difference!
