Principal's Welcome

Dear parents and carers,
Welcome to the 2025 school year. It was great seeing families at the Welcome Picnic last week, especially those families new to the Clifton Hill Primary School community.
The start of the school year has been a hot one, but the students have settled into the classroom routines with enthusiasm.
This year we welcome a number of new staff: Ayla Rush, Tennille Murphy, Elisa Woolrich, Nick Pryde, Israel Cooper and Arnaud Gallois. We are fortunate to have such high calibre people join our team.
CURRICULUM DAY (STUDENT FREE)
Our first curriculum day will be Wednesday 5th March. This will be a parent-teacher session. TeamKids will operate on this day. Information on booking a session will be sent via Compass.
SCHOOL PHOTOS
School photos will be held on Friday 28th February. Sibling photos and graduation photos will take place later in the school year.
AMBULANCE COVER
Families are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance or ambulance cover for students. Parents and guardians of students, who do not have student accident insurance/ambulance cover, are responsible for paying the cost of medical treatment for injured students, including the cost of ambulance attendance/transport and any other transport costs.
PERSONAL INSURANCE
Personal property is often brought to school by students and visitors. This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys and sporting equipment. As the Department does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property, students and visitors are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school.
PRIVACY POLICY
Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy. Please take time to familiarise yourself with the Department of Education and Training's Schools' Privacy Policy which can be viewed on our school website (www.cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au).
SUPERVISION OF STUDENTS BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL
A reminder that there is no supervision for students before 8:45am and we request that parents/carers do not drop their children off until 8:45am. This is for your child’s safety. Students found in the yard before 8:45am will be sent to the office or TeamKids. We also ask that if you know you are going to be late to collect your child that you let the office know. That way, we can have children wait in the classroom or at the office until your arrival. If you are going to be more than 10 minutes late, we ask that you contact TeamKids to make a booking.
SCHOOL POLICIES
Several key policies can be accessed on the school website (www.cliftonhillps.vic.edu.au). We encourage you to familiarise yourself with policies such as:
- SunSmart and Extreme Heat Policy
- Anaphylaxis Policy
- Mobile Phone Policy
- Child Safety Policy
- Volunteer Policy
- Administration of Medication Policy
We hope your children have settled in well to the new school year.
Regards,
Megan Smith
