Principal Team Updates
from everyone's desk.
We hope you all had a fantastic break and feel refreshed ready for a fantastic 2025.
We were so happy to see so many smiling faces this morning, particularly our youngest cohort, the Preps, for their first day ever of school.
The first two days of the school year for our staff saw an incredible amount of work go into classroom set-up, curriculum planning & professional learning. Thank you to our staff for their energetic approach to our 2025 school year. Further, thank you to our Education
Support Staff and those teachers who came back to school during the holidays to prepare resources and learning spaces.
If you get a chance, pass on an acknowledgment to our groundskeepers Tim and Shane for their work on facility maintenance and improvement over the break.
I would like to congratulate the students, particularly the Prep students for how well they’ve settled into the school environment. It has been pleasing to see and hear busy classrooms (and kids having fun)!
As a part of our 'Ready to Learn' program, on Monday 3rd February, we are excited that the actors from Brainstorm Productions will be performing 'Being Brave' to all students in Years 1-6. The content of the production will be followed up by teachers who will use supporting resources to reinforce the key messages of the production.

They may worry about themselves, their families and the world.. Being Brave is a live show that gives students positive strategies to cope with emotions and adapt to change at school, at home and online. Fly is a young boy whose parents have separated.

For our new families, and as a reminder to existing families, I thought I'd take a moment to explain the process to follow in the event your child arrives late to school or needs to be picked up early.
If you are arriving late, please ensure you walk your child to the office and sign them in on the kiosks at the office counter. Your child will then be printed an 'arrival pass' which they take to show their teacher they have been signed in. Children should not be sent to walk to the office without a parent/guardian at anytime after 9am. If you know you will be arriving at school anytime after 9.15am (for example you have an appointment), please add an 'attendance note' on compass with the estimated arrival time (you will still need to sign in at the office on arrival).
If you are picking your child up early, please ensure you email your child's teacher advising them of the approximate pickup time, so they can endeavour to have their bag packed ready. You will then need to come to the office and sign them out on the kiosk at the office counter, take your 'departure pass' to the classroom, and pick up your child from there. To minimise class interruptions, the office cannot page your child to meet you at the office, you will need to allow time to collect them from their classroom. It's best to check with your child what specialist they may be in at your estimated arrival time, so you are aware where to locate them.
Please see instructions below how to add an Attendance Note using the Compass App:
Over the January school holidays, we were busy upgrading some areas of the school.
New eye catching school signage was installed along Campaspe Drive along with a new play space for the Preps and Year 1's. As with most things at CHPS, we like the students to have a voice, so we are going to let them vote on it's new name (gulp!). Will we end up with a name to rival the great 'Boaty McBoatface'?? Stay tuned for the official name unveiling later this term.
