International Student excursion - Moonlit Sanctuary, Pearcedale
On Tuesday 19th November, the Year 7 – 11 international students visited the Moonlit Sanctuary in Pearcedale. During this excursion, students participated in workshops covering the following topics: ‘Feathers and Fur’, ‘Reptile Encounter’, ‘Carnivore Corner’ and ‘Wallaby Walk’. During the workshops, they learned about a variety of Australian animals, hand-fed kangaroos and wallabies, and, for the very brave, took on the challenge of holding a snake!
Please see the recounts from some of our Language Centre students below.
Moonlit Sanctuary – By Thomas Nguyen
On Tuesday 19th November the international students went to Moonlit sanctuary in Pearcedale.
We get there by bus with Ms Palfreyman and Ms Marianne. This is a long trip, it took forty minutes. The weather was sunny and warm but sometimes windy and cool.
First, we saw wombats, parrots and kookaburras. The wombat is very cute! It looks like a pig and capybara. The parrot very clever and colourful. Kookaburra very noisy. They laugh every day!
Next, we saw koalas, kangaroos and a Tasmanian Devil. Koalas and kangaroos were very cute! I fed kangaroo. I smelt koala poo, is not bad smell! It had a tree and grass smell! I was surprised. Kangaroo are very friendly. They’re very tall and strong.
At 1:10 pm, we come back and have lunch. I bought iced tea in café, but the iced tea was very bitter. When we finished lunch, we went back to school. On the trip, I learned about Australia animals!
