Loving God, As we light the first Advent candle of hope, we ask for your presence to fill our hearts and homes. May the hope of Christ's coming bring light to our darkness and renew our spirits. In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen
The season of Advent has begun. On Sunday, we celebrated the beginning of Advent. Advent is a time of waiting, a time to prepare and to reflect on the importance of the birth of Jesus within our lives. It is a time when we prepare and get ready to celebrate the birth of Jesus.
On Friday, 1/2VS led us in prayer and we celebrated the 1st week of Advent. As a Catholic learning community, we lit the first candle, which is purple. The candle represents HOPE. It is called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets. It represents the expectation felt in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah. In the coming weeks, our learners will have the opportunity to unpack, explore, reflect and make connections to how relevant these scripture stories are in our world today. As a whole school scripture focus, our learners will be unpacking, reflecting and engaging in the following scriptures.
Week 1: Luke 21:25-28:34-36 HOPE
Week 2: Luke 3:1-6 PEACE
Week 3: Luke 3:10-18 JOY
Week 4: Luke 1:26-38 LOVE
As a Catholic learning community, our learners will have the opportunity to reflect and unpack the scriptures from Luke's gospel.
We come together as a school community to celebrate this special season with our Christmas carols. This event will take place on Thursday the 12th of December at 7.00 pm at St Fidelis' Church.
