Intermediate Boys Football
On Thursday of Week 6, a group of Beaufort Secondary College boys headed to Ballarat to compete in the intermediate Eureka Division Football. Despite having no Year 10 students and a large group of our year 7 students stepping up to help, the boys put in a huge effort and represented the school well.
We came up against some tall and strong opposition from Mount Rowan, Mt Clear and Daylesford, who towered over our undersized squad, however our focus for the day was on effort, teamwork and fun, with the day’s success judged on these key aspects.
A huge effort in the ruck by Lachie Doherty, along with goals to Louie Welsh and Blake Beaton and some strong marks by Riley Mitchell, were some of the highlights of the day. Despite some tough results, our effort, teamwork and overall enjoyment ensured the day was still a success.
A big thank you to Mr Severino for coaching and Mr Trigg for his help on the day.
Year 8 Girls Netball
On Tuesday the 2nd of June, our Year 8 girls netball team travelled to Llanberris to compete in the Eureka Division netball competition. During the round-robin competition the girls drew with Mount Rowan and, despite a great effort, went down by two goals to Mount Clear and six goals to Ballarat High respectively.
Having successfully defeated all other opponents, they finished 3rd overall, successfully defeating Ballarat High by an exhilarating two goals in their 3rd vs 4th rematch decider. Mount Clear deservingly took the honours for the day.
The girls showed amazing sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the day, representing the college to a high standard.
Intermediate Girls Soccer
Last Thursday, our Intermediate Girls Soccer team travelled to Ballarat to compete in the SSV Eureka Division competition.
The day was dominated by freezing temperatures and torrential rain, creating some of the toughest conditions many of the girls have played in. Between games, everyone was doing their best to stay warm, making the most of any shelter, spare jackets and heat packs. Despite the weather, the girls kept turning up for each game with great spirit and determination.
A big thank you to all of the players who represented Beaufort Secondary College. We'd especially like to acknowledge our Year 7 and 8 students who stepped in to help fill the team. Taking on older students is never easy, and they did a fantastic job.
While the results didn't fall our way on the scoreboard, the girls never stopped competing. They continued to support one another, work hard and show a positive attitude despite the cold, wet conditions.
One of the highlights of the day was Amelia losing a boot in the middle of a game and having to continue playing while trying to recover it! There were also plenty of laughs between games as players and coaches battled the wind and torrential rain, trying to make their way from one side of the pitch to the other without slipping over.
Our best players for the day were Izzy, Lizey, Tess and Skye, who all worked tirelessly across the three games. A special mention also goes to Hazel in goals, who made some terrific saves despite having very cold hands for most of the day.
Well done to everyone involved for the way they represented Beaufort Secondary College in very challenging conditions.
Intermediate Boys Soccer
Last Thursday, our Intermediate Boys Soccer Team travelled to Ballarat to compete in the SSV Eureka Division competition.
After a team warm up, which was well needed due to the rain and freezing cold, the boys faced Woodman’s Hill. This game was end to end, with scoring opportunities for both teams, although no one was able to convert these opportunities. We went straight into our second game against Daylesford, in which Max Kehoe scored our first goal. After a well fought game, Daylesford were able to get a late equaliser, resulting in a draw.
Our final game, against the top team, Ballarat High School, was a difficult game with the rain pouring down and the pitch now torn up. Unfortunately, we let three goals through and were unable to score ourselves.
Shout out to the boys for working together and persisting throughout the day, despite the challenging conditions. They represented themselves and Beaufort Secondary College exceptionally well.
