5/6 Doxa Camp
Although the weather was a little unkind to our 5/6 campers last week all reports from students and staff were extremely positive on their arrival back to school on Friday afternoon. The students were still able to complete all of the planned adventure activities, including the notoriously popular 'giant swing'. So many of the students reported going 'right to the top' and experiencing the adrenaline rush when they pulled the rope and had the first free fall. I believe the supplied spray jackets for the students came in handy, especially on Thursday. There were many tired faces however and I am sure a lot of caught up sleep occurred over the long weekend.
Thank you to all staff that attended as well as the students for their exceptional behaviour and enthusiasm. It was a great opportunity for the whole cohort to spend time together and see each other in a different context
Student Support Group Meetings
Next week we will be holding Student Support Group meetings to discuss the students' progress against their learning goals and to refine or develop the goals in preparation for Term 3. This is a great opportunity for teachers, education support staff and families to celebrate the progress and achievements as well as identify areas for future focus as part of our reporting and assessment procedures.
This will then be followed up with the publishing of Semester 1 student reports on Monday 22nd June and Parent Teacher conferences in week 10.
Parking Reminder
It has been brought to our attention over the last couple of weeks that several of our families have received parking fines from the council due to stopping or parking in designated no parking and time restricted parking areas. These areas and restrictions are more prevalent at the front of the school at the Camperdown Avenue entrance however there is also signage and restrictions on Lurg Avenue.
Unfortunately as a school we have no influence over the enforcement of parking restrictions and where and when parking inspectors may appear.
We remind all families to ensure that parking signs are read carefully and restricted times are followed to prevent the possibility of receiving a fine.
Road Safety - Bikes and Scooters
A reminder that is a legal requirement that helmets must be worn when riding a bicycle, e-scooter or human powered scooter wh out in public. Not doing so could potentially result in a fine. More importantly however is the safety of the students. Whilst we love to see them actively riding and walking to school it is essential that they do so safely. Unfortunately we cannot always predict what will happen on the roads and footpaths, including cars entering and exiting driveways. We therefore are asking for the assistance of parents and carers to ensure anyone riding bikes and scooters to school are wearing an appropriate fitting helmet.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
