Dear Parents and Carers,
Extension Strings Achieve 4th Place at Eisteddfod
This week, our Extension Strings students proudly represented OLSS at the Eisteddfod and achieved a fantastic 4th place.
Students attended Thursday morning rehearsals from 8:15am before school, showing ongoing commitment and dedication to the ensemble. A special mention goes to five Year 6 students (Hayley W, Jasmine M, Julian G, Sam A, Gabriel A) who had been rehearsing with the group and later realised the competition clashed with their Interschool Sport. Despite this, they chose to attend the competition and support the ensemble. Without them, the group would not have had enough performers to compete in the category.
I was incredibly proud of their decision to put the team first and support our younger students in the ensemble. Their willingness to step up made a real difference.
I am proud of all students involved for their effort, teamwork and the way they represented OLSS throughout the day.
Congratulations to everyone on a wonderful result.
“Success is not only measured by results, but by the courage to step up, support others and keep trying.”

PBL Focus: Staying Safe and Respectful Online
Over the last few weeks, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus has been all about practicing respect, responsibility, and safety when online. Digital citizenship is a huge part of our students' lives, and we would love your support in reinforcing these habits at home. Please take a moment to remind your children to always keep personal information private, be kind in all digital interactions, and ask for permission before using devices. Most importantly, remind them to use technology safely and to always tell a trusted adult if they see or experience anything online that makes them feel uncomfortable. Together, we can help our kids navigate the digital world safely and responsibly!

“Squishes” Not Permitted At School
Please be advised that NeeDoh squishes are NOT permitted at school. This decision has been made due to health and hygiene concerns, including the spread of germs and the possibility of the toys bursting and releasing unsafe chemicals. We have also noticed that these items are causing some disagreements between students.
This is also a reminder that students should not bring toys from home to school.
We understand that these products are advertised as “sensory” or “stress relief” toys. If there is a specific reason your child requires a NeeDoh squish at school to support their learning, please email their class teacher through the school office explaining the circumstances.
Thank you for your understanding and support.

Please see below the tips on what to swap this fortnight!
