First Hockey Team Match Report vs Barker | 30th May 2026 | Lost 3–1
On Saturday 30th May, the BMGS First Hockey Team travelled to take on Barker College in what proved to be an exciting and spirited contest. Despite the final score of 3–1, the performance was one of the teams strongest of the season and gave plenty of reason for optimism.
BMGS' goal came courtesy of Ruby Brajkovic, who capped off a sharp move with a well-taken tap-in - a reward for the clinical finishing the team has been working hard to develop in training.
Eadie also had a fantastic game, making a number of impressive runs up the field and proving a constant threat every time she got on the ball.
In the midfield, Kerry was equally impressive, her crisp and accurate passing repeatedly putting the team in dangerous positions and helping drive the ball deep into Barker's half.
While the scoreline didn't go our way, the effort, enthusiasm, and skill on display from every player was a real highlight. The whole team should be proud of how they applied themselves - the hard work done on the training field is clearly showing.
We look forward to the next fixture with great anticipation. Go BMGS!

Junior A's vs Chevalier | 30 May 2026 | Lost 2–6
Despite the scoreline, Saturday’s match was one to be proud of. From the first whistle to the last, the girls played with relentless determination - pressing high, maintaining their structure, and refusing to drop their heads even as Chevalier extended their lead. This is a team that competes for the full game, and that was on full display.
Chevalier presented a well-organised defensive unit that made it difficult to break through, but there were plenty of bright moments going forward. The girls created a number of genuine chances on goal and showed real attacking intent throughout.
In the midfield and attacking third, the movement off the ball was excellent. Players were constantly making themselves available, which opened up space and allowed the team to push into Chevalier's half on multiple occasions. Communication was a real highlight - vocal, consistent, and clearly making a difference in how the team connected.
At the back, Isabelle was strong in goals, with Lily and Molly providing a solid defensive partnership in front of her. The trio worked well together and made Chevalier earn every opportunity they got.
A tough result, but a performance full of character. We look forward to next week.

NETBALL
Firsts vs. Redlands – win
After a quick warm-up, we took to the court against Redlands, eager to continue building momentum in our season.
The match began at a steady pace, with us holding a narrow three-goal lead at the first break. As the game progressed, we found another gear, increasing our intensity and speed across the court. Our defensive pressure was outstanding, with players reading the play brilliantly to produce numerous tips, intercepts, and turnovers.
One of the highlights of the game was our commitment to contesting every ball. We defended relentlessly from end to end, applying pressure all the way down the court and making Redlands work hard for every possession. In the circle, our ability to shield the shot by shooters and secure important rebounds gave us valuable opportunities to regain possession defensively.
Through the centre court, we were dominant. Strong defensive efforts were matched by composed attacking play, with our feeders showing patience and excellent decision-making when delivering the ball into the shooting circle. Their precision and timing ensured our attacking end could capitalise on scoring opportunities.
Most pleasing was the team’s determination to keep pushing for every goal. With our sights firmly set on a top-four finish, the players worked hard to maximise our percentage and maintain pressure throughout the match.
It was a fantastic team performance, played in great spirit, and a rewarding result for a group that continues to grow in confidence and cohesion each week.

Seconds vs. St Spyridon – loss
This week, the seconds endurance remained stronger for longer throughout the game. They came up against a team with a solid reputation in the competition, but kept their defence tight during the game. Faith did an amazing job at increasing pressure in the circle, getting some great intercepts with effective reading of the play. Marnie also remained a consistent and constant presence in both the attacking and defensive ends of the court, even making her WA debut which she nailed. One thing for us to work on is working on making sure our defensive turnovers result in points on the scoreboard. In the third quarter, we had a significant amount of turnovers, which if directly converted would have resulted in a score of just 2 points the difference. Overall, the group is starting to work better as they become more comfortable with each other and get to know each others playing styles more.

Inters vs. Redlands – loss
BMGS played Redlands at Redlands home ground. The girls put up a great fight and the score was neck and neck right up to the last five minutes of the fourth quarter. Throughout the game the defensive and attacking end both displayed immense improvement compared to previous weeks and actively put into practice the things we have left on in training. I am very proud of the girls effort and they should hold their head high.

Juniors vs. St Spyridon – loss
It was a really good game, with strong movement down the court and great effort from everyone. The team is showing clear improvement, particularly with footwork and overall control of the ball. Eva stood out with excellent communication throughout the game, helping keep the team connected and organised on court.
Overall, it was a great team performance with consistent effort from start to finish — a big step forward and lots to be proud of!
