The past two weeks have been filled with exceptional opportunities for learning, growth, creativity, and celebration across the Senior School.

One of the most significant educational initiatives during the fortnight was the delivery of the Consent Lab workshops for students in Years 7–12. These age-appropriate sessions provided students with valuable opportunities to explore topics including respectful relationships, consent, communication, personal boundaries, online interactions, and bystander responsibility. The workshops encouraged thoughtful discussion and reflection while equipping students with practical strategies to navigate relationships safely and respectfully. As a school, we remain committed to providing proactive education that supports student wellbeing and helps young people develop the knowledge, confidence, and skills required to build positive and respectful relationships throughout their lives.

Our students have continued to embrace a wide range of experiences beyond the classroom. Year 9 students attended the Stand Tall Conference, where they heard powerful stories of resilience, perseverance, and positive decision-making from a range of inspirational speakers. The conference challenged students to reflect on their own values, relationships, and aspirations while encouraging them to make positive choices as they navigate adolescence.

Students from Years 10 and 12 attended the Careers Expo, where they engaged with representatives from universities, training organisations, employers, and industry professionals. The event provided valuable insight into post-school pathways and future career opportunities, helping students make informed decisions about subject selections, tertiary study, apprenticeships, and employment options.

Our Year 11 Legal Studies students also participated in a courthouse visit, providing an authentic and valuable extension to their classroom learning. Students were able to observe legal proceedings firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of the operation of the Australian legal system, further enriching their studies and appreciation of the justice process.

Meanwhile, our Year 7 students enjoyed a Creative Arts Immersion Day, spending the day engaged in a range of workshops and creative experiences across the visual and performing arts. The program encouraged students to explore their creativity, collaborate with their peers, and develop confidence through artistic expression. The enthusiasm and engagement displayed throughout the day were outstanding.

Another highlight of the fortnight was the Year 7 and Year 8 Odyssey Showcase Evenings. These events provided students with the opportunity to share the culmination of their learning with parents, carers, and staff. The Odyssey program encourages students to explore real-world problems through inquiry, creativity, collaboration, and innovation. Throughout the evening, students confidently presented their projects, demonstrated their learning journeys, and reflected on the challenges they had overcome along the way. It was wonderful to see students speaking passionately about their work and showcasing the diverse range of ideas, solutions, and creative thinking that emerged from the program. The evenings were a testament to the curiosity, resilience, and ingenuity of our students and highlighted the value of authentic, project-based learning experiences.

After many months of planning, preparation, organisation, and countless hours of dance rehearsals, the 2026 BMGS Winter Ball was finally here - and it did not disappoint.

Watching our students arrive, seeing their excitement, confidence, and the incredible effort they put into every detail made all the hard work worthwhile. The evening was filled with elegance, laughter, unforgettable moments, and plenty of dancing.

The Winter Ball was a celebration of community, friendship, and the journey our students have shared together throughout their years at BMGS. Students conducted themselves with exceptional maturity and grace, creating an atmosphere that was both elegant and joyful. From the formal presentations and photographs to the dancing and celebrations that followed, the evening was filled with memorable moments that will remain with students and families for many years to come.

One of the most rewarding aspects of the evening was witnessing the pride and excitement shared by students, parents, carers, and staff. The Winter Ball is much more than a social event; it represents an important milestone in the Senior School journey and provides an opportunity to celebrate the growth, achievements, and relationships that have been formed throughout the cohort's time at school.

Events of this scale do not happen without an extraordinary amount of work behind the scenes. A huge thank you to WSCC, our awesome DJ, photographers, families, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make the night such a success. Events like these truly take a village, and I am so grateful for the dedication and support of our wonderful school community.

Most importantly, thank you to our Year 11 students for embracing every moment and creating memories that will last a lifetime. The Winter Ball is always a special event, but this year’s celebration was one to remember.

As we move into the final weeks of term, students are encouraged to remain focused on their academic commitments and continue striving for excellence in all aspects of school life. Thank you to our staff, students, and families for your ongoing support and partnership as we continue to provide meaningful opportunities for growth, learning, and achievement.
