Principal's Message

Loving God,

We thank you for our school community and the dedicated staff who guide and protect our children. Grant us, parents and teachers alike, the patience and wisdom to support them together. Keep our school a safe place of peace, and help us always work hand-in-hand for the precious young people in our trust.

Amen.

Behind the Scenes: Our Recent Student-Free Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for your support and flexibility with last Friday’s school closure day. While we know juggling childcare on pupil-free days takes some extra planning on your end, these dedicated days are incredibly valuable for our team. They give our staff the uninterrupted time needed to sharpen our skills, align our practices, and ensure our school remains a safe, positive, and thriving environment for your children.

Here is a look at what our staff was working on while your kids enjoyed their long weekend.

Deepening Our Classroom Support: The 'On Track' Framework

A large portion of our day was dedicated to our On Track program, which focuses on proactive student engagement and emotional wellbeing. Every child has days when they feel overwhelmed, distracted, or stressed, and our goal is to meet them with the right support at the right time.

During these workshops, our teachers collaborated on:

  • Recognising Triggers: Learning to read the subtle cues that signal a student might be feeling anxious, frustrated, or escalated before it impacts their learning.
  • Positive De-escalation: Practicing proven strategies to calmly guide a student back to a state of focus and comfort.
  • Active Supervision & Positive Reinforcement: Refining how we move through our classrooms to keep energy levels balanced, while doubling down on celebrating the everyday wins, big and small.

Consistency is Key: School-Wide Routines

We also heard from our Wellbeing Team—the group responsible for our school-wide PBL behavioural and learning expectations.

Kids thrive on predictability. When the rules, routines, and positive rewards look and feel exactly the same whether a student is in Art class, the math class, or out on the oval, it creates a powerful sense of security. We used this time to audit our current routines and ensure that our high expectations for kindness, respect, and effort are seamlessly aligned across every year level.

Safety First: Emergency Management Readiness

Finally, we switched gears to absolute essentials: keeping your children physically safe. Hopefully, we will never have to put these protocols to the test, but preparation is everything.

Our staff underwent comprehensive Emergency Management Training, which included updating our evacuation routes, reviewing response protocols, and conducting specialised training for our designated school safety wardens.

Reminder: SAC Applications Are Open!

A quick community note before we wrap up—School Advisory Council (SAC) applications are now open.

If you missed the initial announcement regarding the criteria, deadlines, or how to submit, please look back at last week’s newsletter for the full breakdown. We highly value your partnership and look forward to receiving your submissions!
