Indigenous Games Day

Indigenous Games Day was a fun and engaging experience where students explored traditional Indigenous games and learned about the rich cultures and stories of Indigenous Australians. Students had a great time participating in games, playing together, and discovering exciting new ways to learn through games and teamwork!

Maths

Our young mathematicians have been exploring teen numbers, developing a deeper understanding that numbers from 11–19 are made up of ten and some more. Through hands-on activities, games, and discussions, they have been building confidence in recognising, representing, and partitioning these numbers, strengthening their early place value knowledge and mathematical thinking.

Over the past five weeks, we have been learning about measurement. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring a range of measurement concepts in class, including mass, time, length, capacity, and location.

Throughout these learning experiences, students have developed their understanding of how we measure and compare the world around us. They have investigated mass by identifying whether objects are heavier, lighter, or equal; explored capacity by considering how much different containers can hold; and developed their skills in measuring length using both informal and formal tools. Students have also begun to build their understanding of time and its role in everyday routines, as well as explored location through the use of positional language and movement-based activities.

Thank you letters

The Prep students recently had visits from our local police officers and fire brigade. During the sessions, students learnt about the important jobs emergency services workers do to help keep our community safe. They especially loved looking at the police and fire vehicles, asking lots of questions, and learning more about how to stay safe in different situations.

Following the visits, our Prep students worked with their Grade 3 & 4 buddies to write thank you letters to the police officers and firefighters. The students loved sharing what they had learnt and were very excited to thank them for taking the time to visit our school. We are so grateful to our local police and fire brigade for helping our students learn more about staying safe and for making the experience so engaging and memorable.
