Year 3 Excursion to the Melbourne Museum
Year 3 Excursion to the Melbourne Museum: A Memorable Learning Experience!
We are pleased to share the highlights of our recent Year 3 excursion to the Melbourne Museum. This visit was a valuable opportunity for our students to deepen their understanding of our Term 3 Inquiry question: "How does Australia continue to change?"
Throughout the day, students explored several important concepts, including:
- The people, places, and events that have shaped Melbourne into the vibrant city it is today.
- The diversity and rich cultures of Australia’s First Peoples.
- Melbourne’s evolution over time, as seen through art and fossil records.
This hands-on experience allowed our learners to connect with real-life examples of how Melbourne has changed over time. Many students made insightful connections between the languages highlighted in the First Peoples exhibit and their own cultural backgrounds. For example, they noticed parallels between the multiple languages spoken in Australia’s Indigenous communities and those spoken in countries like India, where diverse languages, customs, and habits coexist within one nation.
A special thank you to Ms. Ota for organising this fantastic experience, the Principal Class team for their support, our office staff for their collaboration, and learning assistant's Liz, Vani, and Nikki for attending and helping to make the day a success.
