Welcome back to another exciting term at Trinity! It was so lovely to see our children and families on Monday morning, happy to be back at school after our break. We also welcome new students and families who have joined our Trinity community this term. We look forward to another wonderful term of learning and working together at Trinity!
The Learning Overviews for Term 4 are attached below and to our Principal's News page. We encourage you to read these, as the overviews will outline the learning that will take place at each year level for this term.
This coming Sunday, on the 13th of October 'Childrens Liturgy of the Word' will recommence at the Richmond Catholic Parish for children from Prep to Year 6. This will be happening during the 11am Mass at St James Church.
Children who attend Mass with their families will be invited to join for a Children's Liturgy of the Word. The children will leave the church at the beginning of Mass and return for the Offertory Procession.
The children will listen to the Word of God and have the opportunity to discuss the Gospel message and how they can practise this in their own lives. This will help them to develop their own understandings and relationship with God.
This will be run by myself and supported by a group of school parents/parish members. If you are interested in helping or being involved in some way I would encourage you to make contact with me.
I invite families to join us for the 11am Mass on Sunday 13th October, where the children will have the opportunity to participate in the Children's Liturgy. This will take place weekly each Sunday at St James Church until the end of the school year.
I am looking forward to seeing the children from Trinity at the Sunday Mass for the Children's Liturgy.

In the Prep classrooms our students listen intently as our Prep teachers explicitly teach new learning...
It is such a great start to the day to walk into a classroom and see students so deeply engaged in reading, practicing newly learnt reading strategies and providing them with opportunities to develop their reading stamina and enjoyment of literature.
It is an exciting time to be part of Catholic education with the relase of MACS' Vision for Instruction earlier this year. This framework outlines the strategic direction for teaching and learning grounded in rich cognitive science. Vision for Instruction identifies the most effective teaching methods supported by evidence of their positive impact on student outcomes. At Trinity we have high expectations for every learner and all teachers will be supported to implement these practices based on the Science of Learning. With explicit teaching at the fore, we aim to engage students in their learning by creating opportunities to explicitly teach new skills and concepts, providing opportunities to practice new learning and to review their learning daily.
It is always a pleasure when children come to read with me to show how they have been working on their reading and practising new strategies they have learnt at school. Congratulations to Dirk in 3/4TR for practiciing your reading at home everyday- even on the holidays!
This week Eilidh in 3/4TR worked really hard to create a story on the theme 'Courage' for the Shared Stories publication. Congratulations Eilidh on your persistence and creativity and for demonstrating what it means to be courageous.
Courage
One day there was a little girl named Tilly. Tilly was scared of nearly everything. She felt that she had no friends and that nobody liked her. When she got home from school she ran up to her room every night. On the weekends, she always sat in her room writing and drawing in her notebook.
On Monday, Tilly had an excursion to go to the beach. She didn’t go in the water - she just sat on a bench writing in her notebook. Tilly loved imagining and writing her stories.
The next month the whole grade had camp. Tilly normally didn’t go to school camp, but this time, her parents made her go. She felt nervous. Tilly made sure she packed her notebook of stories and was ready.
On the bus to camp, Tilly was scared, but when she got to camp she felt a little better. She held on tight to her notebooks. Tilly wanted to sleep in a cabin by herself but she was stuck with Sophia and Matilda. Sophia was actually pretty nice, but Matilda wasn’t really nice to her at all. Tilly still felt nervous but read her stories from her notebook till she fell asleep.
The next day, there were lots of activities. They could make craft, play games and were learning things like outdoor adventure skills. The last activity was the flying fox. Matilda, from Tilly’s cabin, went first. She was going really well until she got stuck. Tilly looked up from her notebook and went to help her. Matilda was very scared, but she eventually got back on and got to the end of the flying fox with lots of encouragement from Tilly. They didn’t talk until after dinner. Tilly finally spoke to Matilda. “Do you want to hear a story?” asked Tilly. Matilda said “Yeah. Sure. Want to be friends?” “Sure,” Tilly said. So Matilda and Sophia and Tilly all read from her notebook and fell asleep reading together “Zzzzzzzzzzz”.
The next day everybody went back home and when she was home, Tilly said to her Mum and Dad, “Thank you for making me go to camp and letting me take my notebook”. Tilly realised that her notebooks and stories are what helped her have the courage to make new friends.
