ECOSMART CHAMPIONSHIP
On Friday 23rd August our four EcoSmart winners, Janudi grade 3, Niva grade 4, Jashan grade 5 and Madison grade 6, went into the Melbourne Home Show for the EcoSmart Championship against other schools. The event marked the end of the EcoSmart Kids Program which began in term 2 with an incursion for grades 3-6. The students learnt about climate change, renewable energy and helping the environment. They then completed a project for the competition. Students submitted competition entries that promoted a positive environmental message through a medium of their choice including art, 3D models or dioramas, music and writing. This year, the EcoSmart Kids program reached nearly 2000 children from Grades 2-6 across six schools covering regional and metropolitan Victoria.
The awards event brought together all of the competition winners from the 6 competing schools and was hosted by TV personality and interior design expert, James Treble. The judges included representatives from GoodWe, Energy Matters, the Melbourne Home Show and Great Barrier Reef Legacy. We were impressed by the wonderful ideas and passion displayed by all of the students. Niva from grade 4, was crowned Champion in the Grade 2-4 category for her diorama model that identified and proposed solutions to pollution. We congratulate her on her achievement. The other 3 students were also awarded prizes for being a finalist in the competition.
Dean Williamson, GoodWe Country Manager commented: “We couldn’t be prouder of the incredible talent and dedication shown by all the participants in this year’s EcoSmart Kids program. The creativity and awareness these children displayed are a testament to the importance of environmental education. Our collaboration with Great Barrier Reef Legacy allowed us to bring a new dimension to the program, and we are thrilled with the results. We look forward to continuing this journey and expanding the program even further in the future.”
Dr. Dean Miller, Managing Director of Great Barrier Reef Legacy, added: “The level of understanding and commitment to environmental issues displayed by these young minds is truly inspiring. It has been an honour to contribute to this program, and we are excited to see how these future leaders will continue to champion the cause of environmental conservation.”

Interschool Sport
Last Friday, our Grade 6 students participated in an exciting day of round robin competitions for their chosen sports: Volleyball, AFL, Touch Rugby, Kickball, and Basketball. It was fantastic to see all the students showing great enthusiasm, teamwork, and tremendous sportsmanship throughout the day.
We had some outstanding performances across all sports. Special congratulations to our Volleyball team for finishing as grand final runners-up and to our AFL team, who took home the grand final victory!
A huge well done to all our students for their efforts, not only on the day but also during the weekly competitions leading up to the event. Their dedication and hard work truly paid off. Looking ahead to Term 4, our Grade 6 students will be participating in an exciting Intra Sport Program. This will give them the chance to try a variety of different sports, further developing their skills and making new friends across the grade 6 cohort.
Prep – Grade 1 Swimming
This week, our Prep and Grade 1 students participated in swimming lessons at Casey Race. The children worked on developing vital swimming skills, including floating, kicking, and breathing techniques. They also learned about the importance of water safety, understanding how to stay safe around pools and open water. It was a fun and educational experience, helping to build their confidence in the water.
