Last week our Years 9 and 12 students commenced their Exam Blocks. This week students in Years 7, 8, 10 and 11 joined them with their Exam Blocks. Year 9s have now completed their Exam Block for this term.
The remaining Exam Blocks run across the following dates –
Years 7-12 Exam Block schedules were released to all students and parents in Week 6. Please check your emails or access the Parent Lounge – Exam and Assessment Schedule and Information for a copy of these.
It is an expectation that all students will be at school for their exams. For students in Years 7-8, classes will continue as normal with students leaving class for their scheduled exams. For students in Years 10-12, there will be no classes running with students only attending the college for their scheduled exams. Please see the email (as mentioned above) for further information.
If a student is absent from these important assessment tasks, a medical certificate is required. No exams will be sat early. Again, please refer to the parent email for specific details.
Other important things to note:
Please know that if leave has not been approved for missing assessment (assignments and exams), a summative mark of NA will appear on the End of Semester Report for the relevant subject. This is in line with QCAA policies in regard to leave and missing assessment and includes events such as family holidays. Students will still sit the assessment on return to school and receive formative feedback; however, the result will not be counted towards the summative result at the end of the semester for the following reasons:
Please note that this does not apply to leave that has been granted for approved reasons (Illness, etc.) as per QCAA policies.
Last Tuesday at Year Level Assembly, we presented our Year 8, 9 and 11 recipients with their Head of College Awards.

Last weekend, Marist College had five teams of our talented Marist Men participate in the 2024 Tournament of Minds. This annual event showcases creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills across multiple disciplines, and our Marist teams delivered exceptional performances.
Primary Teams Showcase their Talents
There were three primary teams this year participating in the challenge from the Social Science, Language and Literature and The Arts disciplines. The boys worked diligently and collaboratively for 6 weeks towards solving their challenges. They negotiated the strict set of boundaries which include time restrictions and limits on materials used for the making of props and costumes.
The teams were:
SOCIAL SCIENCE Robyn Brown | LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE Dan Prince | THE ARTS Michael Jones |
Ben Mulholland | Harry McConnell | Charlie Mackay |
Will Minahan | Brody Corsini | Ben Moran |
Harry Maher | Ben Jefferies | Oscar Symonds |
Maxwell King | Ned Hallo | Emerson Maxwell |
Abel Storey | Angus Mawdsley | Jack Raynor |
Rocco Ibrahim | Rafael Cienfeugos | Oscar Badke |
Will Petie | Jack Anderson | Ben Platts |
Congratulations to The Arts team who were awarded Honours and Social Science who were awarded The Spirit of TOM award. The competition was very high, and all teams performed marvellously and did a magnificent job creating solutions to the challenges they were presented with. Well done boys!
Secondary Teams Achieve High Honors
Our secondary teams also performed admirably, receiving recognition for their hard work and dedication to their tasks. Ms Deacon mentored and accompanied these teams in their Tournament experience.
We are excited to announce that the Marist Arts Alliance Team will be representing Marist College Ashgrove at the State Finals this weekend on the Gold Coast. We wish them the very best of luck! The talented members of this winning team include Remi Dehamel, Teo Dehamel, James Dooley, Henry Walker, Tom Corby, Olivier Canning and Lucas Weigl.
Congratulations to all our teams for their outstanding efforts and achievements at the Tournament of Minds 2024. Your dedication and passion continue to make Marist proud!
