Library

It’s been another busy term for the library! We’ve finished up with another year of the Premier’s Reading Challenge, and I’d like to extend my congratulations to the following students for their amazing dedication in finishing the challenge alongside their schoolwork:

  • Harrison D (Year 9)
  • Sammy G (Year 8)
  • Sienna L (Year 8)
  • Audrey M (Year 8)
  • Ella R (Year 8)
  • Hridaya S (Year 7)

In Week 8 we also held Book Week with a variety of activities celebrating this year’s theme ‘Reading is Magic’. In 10GEOV our students wrote their own flip books explaining the layers of the forest. In 8ENGW created a word cloud answering the prompt ‘if reading is magic, then readers are …’ while 8ENGD created a series of Instagram-worthy pictures to promote their favourite books. Many classes also designed amazing displays for our first ever Door Decorating Competition! The lovely Office staff were the eventual winners due to their creative use of poetry and fairy bread, but it was wonderful to see so many faculties spreading the love of reading across the school! We also hosted a Magic the Gathering tournament, a Magic Trick showcase, a virtual author visit with Anh Do and a Trivia Competition with Ms Bun! All participating students earned House Points and we hope they had a good time!

Most excitingly, we hosted our first ever Book Week Cosplay Competition this term! So many students and staff took the opportunity to dress up and our school library seemed to be bursting with a colourful assortment of literary characters. Our finalists were Chayce C, Maddux S, Ameliya F and Annalise R. Our overall winners for the day were Monica H, dressed as her Dungeons and Dragons character Woodlen, and Mr Frazier, who came as Shanks from One Piece. All the costumes looked great and we hope everyone had a good time! I’m very much looking forward to our 2025 Book Week, celebrating the theme ‘Book and Adventure’!
