Principal's Message
Term 4 - Week 1
I want to warmly welcome all of our families back for Term 4 and hope that the holidays provided some great family times even as we dodged the weather. It has been nice to see the sun out over the last couple of days.
Thank you to all of the warm wishes on my return from leave. We had an amazing time travelling through Europe and spending time with family in Hungary.
Erin and Amanda, of course did an amazing job of managing the school in my absence - with support from you and also the staff. The building is on track and is looking closer and closer to being ready. We are excited for Term 4 and are looking forward to Guided Inquiry units that have already made a good start on, Christmas Concerts, Step Up week, Orientation Sessions and of course the list goes on.
All students need to wear a Sunsmart hat when outside. Orange or Blue school hats are available at Reception for $15.00. Please make sure all items of clothing are named.
We look forward to welcoming our Foundation 2025 students and families to the first Foundation Orientation next Wednesday 16th October 8:30am-9:30am. All families are asked to arrive before 8:30am to allow enough time to sign in at Reception.
The session for parents will be held in the hall while the 2025 Foundation students will be collected from the court yard to then participate in a range of activities including building a tower that can hold a toy. These sessions are a great opportunity for families to become familiar with the learning at MPRPS while the teachers get to know our new students and make connections.
Teachers put a great deal of thought into class placement for all students. The aim is to create balanced classes and take into consideration individual needs, as well as friendship options, to allow for the best possible outcomes for all students.
Every student will be asked for friendship preferences and every effort is made to give them at least one friend from their list. Apart from friendship groups teachers will take into consideration the behaviour, academic achievement levels, gender balance and social and emotional needs of students.
If you have a request to be taken into consideration for your child to support their education then please submit this in writing by emailing me at the school email address mt.pleasant.road.ps@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 1st November , as teachers will then commence creating classes. This is the only way to submit a request by families and teacher requests are not an appropriate educational request as teachers regularly move around Learning Centres.
Please see our Class Placement Policy on our website for further details.
It was my great pleasure to award Aussie of the Month for August to Kaia D -
Her kindness and caring nature are evident in every interaction she has. Whether Kaia's offering a helping hand to a classmate in need or taking the time to listen and provide support, she demonstrates empathy and
respect. Her willingness to assist others, whether it be working in partners or everyday classroom activities, creates a positive and inclusive atmosphere that benefits everyone around her. Kaia actively participates in class discussions and is always eager to share their general knowledge. She contribute to the culture of Mount Pleasant Road Primary School by leading with respect, responsibility, passion and optimism. Overall, Kaia’s kindness, care and respect for others make her a standout individual from the Inquiry Centre. Her actions and attitude reflect consideration for others, setting a high standard for what it means to be a truly supportive and valued member of the community. She participates in weekly keyboard lessons and attends different lunchtime clubs including the Junior Games Club on a Wednesday.
September's Aussie of the Month was awarded to Charlotte Z-
This Aussie of the Month winner constantly strives to be the best that she can be. Charlotte displays a love of learning and values every opportunity to grow and develop their skills, both inside and outside the classroom. She is always reliable and is dedicated to fulfilling the roles and responsibilities expected of her in her leadership role, often showing initiative to take on more responsibilities if needed. Charlotte is always kind and displays a wonderful, and sometimes zesty, sense of humour. These qualities make her a valued friend and leader to all students at Mount Pleasant Road Primary School. Charlotte is polite and kind to students and staff alike and is a great role model to the younger students in the school. She collaborate excellently with students in their class and others across the Centre, and ensures that all members in the group have the opportunity to be heard. In addition, Charlotte has been an excellent role model in her time as house captain. She is an amazing lifelong learner often researching and exploring concepts in her own time. Charlotte also loves to read and constantly challenges herself during all learning tasks and is able to make considered reflections about her progress when learning new concepts. She is self-motivated and always eager to improve her skills. Charlotte has shown her dedication and leadership when assisting in running the many sports events at our school and regularly teaches others new card games at recess and lunch times. It has been an absolute pleasure to see her grow in confidence over the past year.

As part of the 5/6 immersion into their Economics and Business Guided Inquiry unit, we welcomed the team from Mini Boss to run an exciting and engaging incursion called ‘The Smoothie Bar’.
There was a buzz of excitement as students worked collaboratively and explored the world of entrepreneurship, from understanding customer preferences to calculating costs and pitching their products. The most exciting part of course was the market research where teams decided on ingredients for their own smoothies, blended them up and taste tested them for product quality purposes!
Students were highly engaged when presenting their ‘pitch’ to the cohort, using their persuasive skills and celebrating the outstanding work they had completed throughout the day. What a fantastic way to introduce a unit we can't wait to see whats in store for the rest of the term!
