Reflections from Ngukurr

Over the recent school holidays, 11 students and 4 staff attended our annual Northern Territory Expedition. It was a fantastic experience for all involved, creating lasting memories. Students were provided with the opportunity to experience life in the Northern Territory, visiting many culturally significant sites. Highlights included Edith Falls, Mindel Beach, Crocodylus Park, Katherine Gorge, Local Football and Ngukurr.

The standout for all involved would have to be the time the group spent in the community at Ngukurr. Students spent time supporting the school in the classroom as well as around the grounds. Students built lasting connections with staff and students from this community and enhanced their knowledge about Indigenous culture. Students ran a footy clinic for the local community which was well attended. The group was also invited to fish on Indigenous Land which is rare. Fish caught by the group were then shared with the local community.

Overall this was a fantastic experience for staff and students and one we can not wait to share with everyone at Hazel Glen College in the future.
