Duke of Edinburgh

Mr Troy Harris

On Friday 18 July, the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award held a ceremony to recognise achievers of the Gold Level Award.

Three of our students, with their families, Mr Harris and Ms Arnold attended the event at City Hall in Brisbane.

Awards were presented by the Governor of Queensland, Dr Jeanette Young, who addressed the Gold Level recipients praising their commitment, their readiness to meet the demands of an evolving world and their meaningful contributions to their communities.

To achieve the Gold Level Award, recipients are active volunteers, learn a new skill, choose a physical recreation, undertake an adventurous journey and complete a residential project away from home.

Eloise Alderson, Year 12, was the first achiever to be recognised. Her award was achieved through community service, playing Volleyball, cycling on the Moreton Bay Cycle Way, learning Japanese, and attending a Volleyball coaching and refereeing development program.

Patrick Fahey, a TSHS alumnus, achieved his Gold Award through community service with the Esk Show Society, cycling, learning to drive, cycling on the Moreton Bay Cycle Way and volunteering at an animal refuge.

Charlie Humphreys, Year 11, achieved his award through community service, learning to drive, weight training, sailing from Sydney to Brisbane on the South Passage and completing a Stage Combat workshop with Shake & Stir Theatre.

Thank you to all the family, friends and volunteers who helped Eloise, Patrick and Charlie achieve their Gold Award. Congratulations!
