Week 9 Term 2

Feast of Saint Anthony - Prayer Reflection

Last Friday we celebrated the Feast of St Anthony of Padua, a beloved saint known for his deep faith and compassion for the poor and lost.  St Anthony is often called upon as the “finder of lost things”.

Many of our families, especially those with Italian heritage, hold a deep devotion to St Anthony. His feast day is a special time to reflect on the values he lived by faith, kindness, and service to others.

As a school community, may we be inspired by his example  to live with compassion, speak with courage, and reach out to those in need.

Let us pray:

Loving God,

We thank you for the life and example of St Anthony.

Help us to be generous with our hearts,

Attentive to those who are lost or lonely,

And faithful in our love for You.

May we, like St Anthony, bring peace, hope and light into the world.

Amen

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the faith journey of our students and their families, we will be holding Parent & Child Faith Education Evenings for Year 1/2. These evenings are a special opportunity for students and their families to come together and explore their faith in a meaningful and engaging way. At least one parent with their child is expected to attend. You are only required to attend once.

The days and times are as follows:

  • Wednesday, June 26 for 1/2 VS & 1/2 CW

Thank you for your support in helping us foster faith development within our school community.

Celebration Of Learning

The Purpose of Celebration of learning  is more than a display of the students' learning. It’s an opportunity for students to reflect on and articulate what they have learned, have their questions and wonderings answered throughout the inquiry and an opportunity to share their strengths.

Over the coming weeks, your child's year level will have an opportunity to showcase some of their learning to their parents and carers. Below are the times for your year levels:

Celebration of learning Times:

Foundation to Year 6 Thursday 19th: 3:30pm - 4:45pm

Foundation To Year 6 Friday 20th: 8:30am - 9:20am

Friday Assembly 9:30am

Important Notice: Change of School Closure Date

Please note that our scheduled School Closure Day has been changed from Thursday, 12th September to Thursday, 5th September. This change is due to the availability of our guest speaker for the professional learning day.

As a result, our Father’s Day Breakfast will now be held on Thursday 4th September. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility.

Extended Family Holidays

We have many families going on very well deserved overseas family holidays in the next few months. Please remember to send an email to the office and your child’s teacher letting us know your child will be on extended leave.

Winter Colds and Hygiene Reminder

As we move through the colder months, we continue to prioritise the health and wellbeing of our students and staff at St Fidelis. Each day, we maintain strong hygiene practices including:

  • Hand sanitising before and after eating
  • Washing hands after using the toilet
  • Using tissues and disposing of them properly
  • Operating air purifiers in all learning spaces

We kindly ask that if your child is displaying any cold-like symptoms, such as a runny nose, cough, sore throat or fever, they remain at home until they are well. This helps to minimise the spread of illness within the school community. If your child becomes unwell during the school day, we will contact you to collect them promptly.

A reminder: Please ensure all winter items such as beanies, jumpers, and jackets are clearly labelled with your child’s name. This makes it easier to return lost items and keep children warm during the school day.

Student Mobile Phone Policy – Important Update

Following consultation with staff and approval from the School Advisory Board, we have introduced a new Student Mobile Phone Policy.

The policy will now be put into practice, with the aim of supporting a focused and respectful learning environment for all students. I appreciate your support in helping your child understand the expectations. A copy of the policy is available by clicking on the link and will be placed on our school website.  Thank you for your ongoing partnership.

Attendance

School begins at 8:50am. All students are expected to be at school by 8.50am. The attendance roll will be marked at this time and if a child is not present when the attendance roll is marked, they will be marked as absent. The beginning of the day routine sets the students up for a successful day of learning, consistency and friendship. Please make every effort to ensure that your child is in the classroom by 8.50am each morning. Students who are not at school by 8.50am will be marked as absent.

Reminder: All Communication Via NFORMA Parent Portal

A reminder to all families that all school communication is now shared through the NFORMA Parent Portal. It’s important that you are regularly checking the portal to stay up to date with school news, events, and notices.

Please refer to this week’s newsletter for instructions on how to access the portal. NFORMA is our key communication tool, and staying connected ensures you don’t miss important information.
