1/2 Learning News

Hello Families,
It has been an interesting few weeks with pupil free days and changes to our classroom structure, but the children have continued to show resilience and flexibility. We have enjoyed working on our Community Project pieces with students from all year levels. We have contributed to a mosiac of Bunjil the eagle and our class sign of 'Buluk' or lake, is almost complete with the children being part of each stage of the design process.
Literacy
This fortnight we have been learning about homophones. We started with one - won, two - to - too, four - for and the children have enjoyed finding more examples in their independent reading time. We are now in the process of creating a poster that we can continue to add to. We have also been practicing our sentences, remembering that sentences have a capital letter, full stop, must make sense and be about someone or something. We are now trying to remember all of these features when writing our recounts and narratives.
Maths
We have enjoyed looking at patterns this week in Maths. We have found lots of patterns around the classroom and school, as well as made our own patterns using materials from around the room such as Unifix blocks, counters, pencils, cushions and even chairs! The students have learnt about labelling patterns as AB, ABC or ABCD depending on how many elements of the pattern are repeated.
Community Project
We've loved working towards our own sign for our classroom name 'Buluk' (lake), the whole school mosaic of Bunjil the eagle and also our own personal puzzle piece that will be combined with pieces from each of the other students to create a shared artwork.
