Buildings and Grounds Update

The Buildings and Grounds Committee have been busy! You might remember last term we were exploring funding options to upgrade our school buildings and in particular, options to give us an indoor space big enough for whole school gatherings.
We met with architects and Neil had discussions with the VSBA and the Department of Education. The feedback was that we are within our entitlement in terms of space and the Government focus at the moment is building new schools. With this in mind, we decided a push for major capital works funding would require significant investment from the school and had a small chance of success.
The good news is, Neil identified a minor capital works grant that we can apply for. We are currently working on design development and the grant application. If successful this would see us refurbishing our student toilets and performing arts room. Giving us new facilities and a better use of space.
We are also starting to plan some landscaping projects around the school which will be funded by the money we have raised as a school at fundraising events. This will include new seating near the basketball courts and new plants in other areas.
We’ll keep you updated on both these projects. We would also like to thank everyone who attended the working bee and remind everyone that Buildings and Grounds meet once per month and the door is always open to new faces!
Thank you
